Michael Bent - Legends T-Shirt

Post by RoboProp »

Is there anyone on here who can get this in the ear of the OLSC? This needs to be done. I'd love one for Fardy too, but Benty is definitely first choice for me.

Make it happen and stick me down for an XXL

Needs to happen.

That said, it also needs to happen for Fardy. No reason both can't get done.

I think the general rule of thumb is one legends T-Shirt per year.

My two-cents for Bent's shirt

Not an option I'm afraid - between Covid restrictions, the lead time required and pre-existing plans there will only be one t-shirt this year and it's already in production.

I agree he's deserving of one, and would doubtless have been next in line, but as I say, it's just not possible.

Have t-shirts been done for ex players before?
I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role.
I've got nothing against your right leg.
The trouble is ... neither have you

Not to date, no.

Funnily enough, during lockdown 1 I did up a spec design for a Bent t-shirt, more out of boredom than anything else, and the idea isn't a million miles from what's being suggested here.

But better.

That would be the way to do it. The first tshirt was for Girv and there was quite a deliberate choice to go for him as an unsung hero/top club man. Benty definitely fits that mould. Not sure about Scotty, I love the guy but he won't get close to 100 caps for Leinster. Dave Kearney has over 150 and is one of our all time leading scorers feels like a more obvious choice after the next one happens.

Definitely a fair few guys in the squad deserving.

Cronin, Bent, Ruddock, Dave would all make a lot of sense. Fardy too although I suppose his cap numbers could count against him. Luke McGrath is probably down the queue a bit but has 145 appearances, good chance he's a future inductee (or whatever the term is)

A friend of mine who is an ex-players cousin keeps harping on about this, "When's my cuz getting his t-shirt" is a familiar refrain from him. Just to wind him up I like to remind him that his cousin retired as a Sarries player :D

The players do care about the shirts. I think some of gallacticos were a bit put out by some of the earlier earthier choices! I loved the fact that Girv was the first!
