Zebre v Leinster Friday 17.45 Eir

Post by wixfjord »

With two dead rubbers and a 6 day turnaround, this is a brilliant chance to give some young guys starts and experience.

I'd love to see something like:
Dooley, Sheehan, Clarkson, Molony, Dunne, Murphy, Penny, Soroka, Luke, Harry B, DK, Frawley, Osborne, Kelleher, MOR,
Tracy, McGrath, Bent, Toner, AN Other, Osborne, ROL, JOB

AN Other = whatever backrower we get released from Irish squad, likely to be Rhys.

Hopefully Harry & Frawley (or Hawkshaw) are back. Getting TOB into the 23 would be a great boost too if he's fit.

Surprised at you not backing more young lads for a start in a dead rubber GG!

Do we really need to see Dev, Bent, Tracy in a game like this?

True... I was more selecting what I think Leo will rather than what I would...

Be great to see Clarkson, Dunne, Sheehan, Soroka, Osborne and O'Reilly start.

Be nice if some injured players returned too.

I wouldn't be surprised if JOB gets cited.
Look out Itchy, he's Irish

I'd like to see Bent, Penny, Luke & Fardy given a rest. I suspect they could be on the teamsheet against Munster (yes, Porter will need a rest as will James Ryan)

Which half backs would you start in the final?

Given we have Europe a week later, would be very inclined towards Luke and Ross, based on their current form.

Zebre have a big strong pack. I don't want anybody we need on the 27th playing against them and that includes Bent, Penny & Luke.

No Penny, Bent or Luke and we will be very light, can't see it happening myself, but stranger things have happened.

Leo Cullen has issued an injury update ahead of Friday’s Guinness PRO14 game against Zebre in the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi (KO: 5.45pm – live on eir Sport).

There is a positive update on Harry Byrne who has progressed through the Graduated Return to Play Protocols and is expected to be available for selection.

In further positive news, Vakh Abdaladze took a limited part in team training last week as he continues to recover from a back injury and will again increase his involvement this week. He remains unavailable for Cullen but is building his involvement week on week.

A number of players require further assessment before a final decision will be made on their availability.

Ciarán Frawley injured his shoulder in the warm up against Glasgow Warriors and will have further assessment this week as will Josh van der Flier who was removed for a Head Injury Assessment against Ulster Rugby and will now follow the Graduated Return to Play Protocols in Ireland camp.

Finally, Seán Cronin picked up a back injury and was removed from the match day squad to face Ulster Rugby as a result and he will be further assessed this week.

No New Injury Update – Unavailable for Selection:

Tommy O’Brien (ankle), Adam Byrne (quad), Caelan Doris (concussive symptoms), Dan Leavy (knee), Conor O’Brien (knee) and Max Deegan (knee)

Sorry, the 5.45 kick off confused me!

Will barely have time to get from desk to couch and get a can opened!

Looks like Nugget trained today too.

And some images of Doris again, including lineout work which encouraging.

Would be great to have him back for the final and Europe.
