Wasn't expecting that level of dominance. Great stuff.

I wonder if results this weekend will give Leo a chance to give a European debut to one or two more players who've been showing up well in the league recently? Thinking of Scott Penny and Cian Kelleher in particular. Such a shame that Tommy O'Brien is injured as he'd be another well capable of making the step up.

Dooley and Bent obviously hauled off to keep them fresh for next week.
There was a bit of fear about the front row.
But when is the last time Benty let us down? And Dooley is one the most underrated players in our squad.
I would try squeeze Scott Penny in there somewhere too. Hard when you have 3 international 7s ahead of you but if the rumours about Northampton sending over the 2nds is true, it might be worth rotating a small few.

You would worry now that Montpellier won’t bother taking the away fixture too seriously and with Northampton probably out and talking about testing players against us we could turn up at a quarter under cooked, won’t get many good games in the league. At least the quarters are 2 legs I guess

Are there Interpros scheduled around the QF's?

Don't think there are currently any matches scheduled after January.

Cheers. I'd imagine that there will be to help prepare the provinces for any potential QF's.

What about Dooley and that cheeky pass before the 2nd try.

Dooley did several BODesque offloads during the game that had me shouting at the tv WTF. Loved it, he is getting better every season and I’ll be honest I thought our front row performance outshone the bench

The Heineken Cup was a beautiful tournament back in the day!

Remember the excitement when the pools were announced in the summer? Trying to get away trips booked before the airlines and hotels hiked up the prices. Working out the form of the opponents in the pool to see what the chances were. The massive crowds, the bad days and then the great days.

Don’t post much anymore; but have to say this, Donnybrook is a very good writer. That’s an excellent account of my own attitude to the tournament now. It’s still a passion, and this is a peculiar (tragic, of course) year, that excuses changes, but it’s not like that’s the real reason for the hitting of what was a great competition.

Great win yesterday, in any case.

Delighted for Peter Dooley I must say. He had always had the potential to be a real option at Euro level for us. Some of his footwork and carrying yesterday was top notch and didn’t move an inch in the scrum.

Only problem was we took him off too early imo.

Thought Dev was excellent too. Probably could’ve called more lineout ball on himself.

And finally I thought DK had a great game. So hungry for work, solid in the air and got another try.

Three unheralded guys who really stepped up.

Our kicking tactics were interesting to watch last night. In the first 20 mins of second half we didn't want the ball and kicked constantly in behind them, turning the back three and making their pack move. We definitely didn't want to risk them getting a lineout they could maul from and backed our defence to corral them in their own half.

Not something we'll do next week but good to have that variety wiith kickers like Frawley, JOB, Byrne and Henshaw in the backline.

Good European debut from Frawley.

With Kelleher at hooker we appear to only seem to throw to either 1 (Luke who spilled it!) or 2 in the line out or a complete overthrow - very predictable.

Another kick fest for long periods tho.

Some of the scrum and breakdown decisions were a complete toss of the coin.

Six of their points I thought should have been penos to us.
The odds are good but the goods are odd.

Haven't seen the full game.
The possession stats seem to be all in Leinster's favour.
Was this because of Montpellier's tactics or ????
We didn't score in the second half until 25min? in.
What changed? Was it the bench coming on maybe?
Then out of the blue it looks like we just stepped up a gear.
Great that we scored a try at the death.
Points difference may be important.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

Re Kelleher, it didn't seem that much better when Tracy was on? I wonder if Leo's ability as a lineout operator has failed to translate into being an effective lineout coach.

Fantastic away performance in France which had all the makings of a massive banana skin
Think there needs to be a small pinch of salt with the win...Montpellier were awful, looked badly coached, unfit and totally unprepared for what European rugby against Leinster was going to be

Apart from that we looked so good especially opening 40 where we ran them ragged
Some of the footwork from our forwards was the best I’ve seen (Big Dev!!!, Rhys, Dooley) to name a few
Thought RB was very assured along with Lukey who I thought was close to motm

Only was worry was line out and the bench didn’t really offer a game changer moment bar leavy
Both hookers struggled at line out so maybe it was a system breakdown but I’m not sure

DK scores his 46th try for Leinster.
Puts him only 1 behind God.
God. God. God.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!
