EUROPEAN CUP R1: Montpellier Away, 12/12, 6.30pm

Yeah, 4 out of our front 5 wouldn’t be first choice and are at least on a par with the Montpellier lads. Hopefully they start to get minced when we empty the bench.

The maul defence right before half time was exceptional too considering that’s the main strength of this pack. They barely made a meter.

Really excellent performance so far - the footwork of the forwards has completely negated any size advantage the MHR forwards had

Faith in young guns justified. Now if only we had a strong bench. 🤣

Ruddock's move for the Frawley try was great. Took the man out with footwork.

At least on par? Try completely dominant! Imagine we had a functional lineout.

Mont missed touch twice which totally suits us.

High ball in play time is what we want.

Dooley having some game.
Yep, Dooley looking very impressive

Yeah, pretty inexcusable to lose three attacking line outs in or around the opposition 22.

There’s the bonus point. Should have been a penalty try but good to get over.

That 23 in blue is pretty handy!

Porter penalised twice in the scrum — honestly looked the other way around both times to me but ref seems to think he’s pulling his opposite man to the ground.

Interesting that Leavy is playing 8 at scrumtime, with Ruddock ar blindside.

If Ruddock could improve his angry face he might have a shot at Ireland.......the best backrow in Ireland atm.....

Super game from VDF and a super cameo from Leavy.

Lineout still causing trouble but everything else close to perfect...

Super stuff.

Ruddock is the best blindside in Ireland. So fortunate for us his face doesn’t fit for Ireland.

Fab result. Coaching selections rewarded across the board. Delyra for Dan Leavy to see him score a try on his return to European rugby. Scrums and lineouts need improvement, but with that away BP win and Bordeaux doing us a favour yesterday, I can't see Montpellier or Northampton putting up much of a struggle in the remaining group games. With a bit of luck we should top Pool A with max match points and a hefty points for and against differential. Tús maith, leath na hoibre!!!
