'Irish'.
not going to bat here, but having an Irish grandfather makes him about as Irish as Michael Bent who has an Irish Grandmother.
Which is 25% of a person's DNA and heritage, pretty substantive. Try stripping 25% of who you are away and tell me you wouldn't be a different person.

Just to be clear, in case it’s not, both Benty and young Jacob can claim to be Irish. They may not be Dubs or even from Leinster, they may not have read Peig or Yeats but they are absolutely a part of our diaspora. Here’s hoping the young lad works out

100% Agree.
The sh!t thrown in Bent's direction when he first arrived on these shores was nothing short of scurrilous.

What's the prognosis on Charlie Ryan? He was the next big thing but obviously has been badly impacted by injury. We could really use a lock that fulfilled his potential.

He has been injured since january, was pictured at training yesterday... not sure he was ever the next big thing at lock though.. he was a good prospect but never an elite one due to his lack of athleticism.

As I recall Charlie Ryan almost didn't make the academy. Good player for the 20s but still needed to develop athletically.

Baird was same year and very much the next big thing.

OK, you'd know more about that than me! I was going n the fact that he'd skippered Ireland U20s and Leinster A. Definitely a different type of lock to Baird who is a bit of an athletic freak, though that's a pretty tough benchmark!

I'd have had Dunne the better prospect, you'd hope one of them would reach a good level as a option as a tighthead lock..

Supposedly Munster asked if he could play for them this weekend if they end up being short of numbers.

Callow enough academy picture at the moment in parts.

Current year 3s are C Ryan, Deeny, M Moloney, Foley, Turner

Can see all of them getting released to be honest. Possibly Foley gets a dev deal while they see what stocks are like behind him coming up.

Of course things change quickly and they might get a chance to play their way into a contract.

Of the year 1s and 2s I don't see anyone bar Osborne who might be considered for early promotion.
He's gotten awfully fond of that brick
