Blue Man wrote: April 14th, 2021, 10:17 pm OTB has been embarrassing over the past few days. Firstly, leading with the ‘O’Gara vs Leinster’ nonsense (ignoring the fact that O’Gara is number 2 to a guy who coached Leinster for 6 years, which is a much better story for the educated, the non-tabloid rugby follower. Then today they were talking about the signing of a 31 year old journeyman wing as if it can be transformational to a turnip team badly in need of a front row. Then more nonsense saying that the 31 year old journeyman was shamefully treated by the IRFU; the IRFU is picking up some of the tab for his wages because the turnips can’t manage their finances...
Yeah but Gibbes is pretty unknown. I'm sure there are plenty of fans who watched some of his games who don't know who he is. ROG is the opposite, well known and in some people's eyes this is his audition to see if he's ready for the Munster job. Actually a win for La Rochelle with Munster potentially having lost 7 on the bounce probably gets JvG sacked mid contract if ROG is available.

The 31 year old journeyman is one of the most marketable men in Irish rugby and was available cheap.
Much as he probably loves the club could you really see ROG taking the Munster job right now. The squad needs work and there is not much coming from the academy.

I think it would be a bad career move. A few more years where he is and the Ireland job becomes a realistic possibility.

that's a surprise..
Ah mildly, its only a surprise because you like to think of your opinion as fact. It's great news.

Of course it's great news, he should break the 200 cap mark now

But let's not pretend re-signing a 35 year old hooker isn't a surprise.

Perhaps an indication that Sheehan is expected to be part of the Ireland squad soon?

Wow that's a surprise on Cronin, thought he was out the door and has looked on his last legs in recent appearances!

Looks like we won't be losing that much experience in one go after, if the Dev rumours are true too.

A true Leinster great and can (for me anyway) be spoken of with Isa and Rocky etc. as one of the greatest foreign players we've ever had.

He's going to be taking a lot with him on and off the field. I hope one or two of the younger guys can pick up the mantle.

Have a great retirement bud. You will be missed

Ahhh, one of our best ever imports. He's been outstanding from day one. Top player, took the leadership brief he was handed coming in the door and did all that was asked of him.
I hope he leaves with even more happy memories.
Thanks for everything Scott, have a great life down under.

+1
A great contribution to the Leinster story. A great rugby career but a rich life also, notably his contribution post Tsunami in Japan. We were privileged to have you in our Squad and you added more than your physique.
