Seems like we have depth in most areas.

I like the format showing ages.

We enter the last year of Sexton's contract. As things stand you'd have to like him for the Lions.

A few positions could get interesting during international windows if there are injuries in other positions. Ed Byrne could get a call up if Healy or Kilcoyne are unavailable and Byrne is ahead of McGrath.

Ed Byrne is nowhere near getting called up to Ireland camp, same goes for Peter Dooley. There’s too many lads a lot better than them across all the provinces. It will be interesting to see what loosheads come into the academy because it’s the position we look the weakest and you would imagine Milne would of gotten an early promotion to the seniors if we really rated him like they did with the other years twos such as Byrne, Baird and Dunne.

Only a matter of time until Jack Boyle enters. Question is do they want to bring older competition for him.

Hopefully he has the temperament to match his ability because he’s been talked up so much.

Dooley is ahead of Byrne in Leinster but where is he relative to the two Ulster lads?Don't immediately see anybody bar Kilcoyne in Munster (Loughman too soon) and Denis Buckley has probably missed the boat. That gives a ranking of:

1. Healy;
2. Kilcoyne;
3. McGrath;
4. Dooley;
5. O'Sullivan;
6. Byrne;
7. Loughman.

By May 2021, and assuming reasonable game time between times, I wouldn't worry too much if anyone from No 4 to No 7 had to fill a bench spot for Ireland against anybody bar S Africa or England.

All bar one from Leinster.

Sad to see Barry Daly leaving, 19 tries in 36 apps for a guy who came up from the AIL, not bad at all. Was being talked of in terms of Ireland camps.

46 is a lot in the senior squad in fairness. 48 until October.

Also. Exactly half of the squad 25 or under (with Garry Ringrose shockingly the eldest of that bunch) and only 7 over 30. GG Has to be happy.

Him and Brian Byrne had quite the scoring records.

Looking at that back three lineup, there's a huge opportunity now for Kelleher.
Lowe will be away with Ireland and he's by far the most natural left winger of the rest of the bunch.
Could see a good few opportunities for TOB/ROL on that flank too.

O Sullivan is 4th, I’d have a heart attack if anybody outside the top 3 stated a 6N game other than the Italian game.

Congratulations And thank you to all the lads who resigned, particularly those who would of been under pressure to move from the IRFU.

Byrne was up there with Lowe in terms of off-loading for me.

Unfortunately he never quite nailed the throwing element of his game.

A bit relieved about this
James Lowe(28) - signed contract in 2020
tbh. Him going back to NZ just as training starts an all. Funny times we are living in, the mind can race away .
You know I'm going to lose,

No need insider knowledge, but I’m not convinced he’s coming back
