Born in 2002. And no, no one has been good enough, young enough and out of school.

I can only think of two players who have done it since the age-grade went to U20: Handre Pollard [SA outhalf] and Liam Gill [Aussie openside].

Leo Cullen, Tommy Bowe, Des Dillon, Jeremy Staunton and James Norton all played in three different seasons for Ireland U21.

Jordan Larmour, Jack Kelly, David Hawkshaw, Ciaran Frawley, Tommy O’Brien; Harry Byrne, Hugh O’Sullivan; Andrew Porter, Ronan Kelleher, Jack Aungier; James Ryan, Oisin Dowling; Max Deegan, Scott Penny, Caelan Doris.

Arguably the strongest XV we have been able to assemble; Leinster’s pathway has few equals in terms of its productivity. Larmour, Porter, Ryan and Deegan are the understandable headliners.


Beyond that quartet, Doris and Penny offer serious potential in the back row, Kelleher and Aungier are more adept than their positions on the senior squad depth chart show, and Byrne and Hawkshaw could be the nucleus of the next generation of Leinster’s back line.

True, personally I would of picked Baird over Dowling ,that is not the XV I would pick, Alex Shaw made that team, an English journalist, it’s a Leinster u23 team

both u18 sides are playing in that week long festival in limerick again, think it starts the weekend of the 17th.

unsure about 19s and 20s yet, 19s will likely be promoted, 20s probably not. although the 20s play italy in a week or two.
