Though the point was made in jest it got a serious reply because Leinster are over-reliant on Michael’s despite all the good work they are doing across the province (which compares well with the outputs from Munster & Ulster).

There is little they can do, but have to try and dikute the Michael’s effect because it is not sustainable, for a range of reasons, for a school half the size of Belvo or Rock to keep producing what they are producing for the last 8 seasons. It’s a bubble.

Amidst my pride at their achievements is a greater concern for what I see as a structural flaw for Leinster (when 1 in 4 of the squad’s players come from 1 medium-sized school). Some see that point, others are blinded as they are too hung up on their feelings for private schools/D4-land.

All the humble people on here who don’t care where players come from would change their tune if their club or school went from an also-ran to providing 25% of Europe’s most successful club in under 10 years.

Pious, begrudgery. Typically Irish.

I used to follow the artist known as 'backrower8' on Twitter (copped it when he was banigng on about Joe Tomane's scandalous hand shake with Nick Williams!), and while he might be hamming it up a bit, I can tell you that unfortunately the above isn't the case! #swordsmen #rugbygoys

4. Ross Molony(St. Michaels) CAPTAIN
5. Ryan Baird(St. Michaels)(Academy)
6. Max Deegan(St. Michaels)
7. Scott Penny(St. Michaels)
8. Caelan Doris(Blackrock)

Replacements from:
Bryan Byrne(Clongowes)
James Tracy(Newbridge)
Michael Milne(Birr RFC-Roscrea)(Academy)
Roman Salanoa
Scott Fardy
Josh Murphy(St. Michaels)
Will Connors(Clongowes)
Jamison Gibson-Park
Ross Byrne(St. Michaels)
Dave Kearney(Clongowes)
Conor O’Brien(Mullingar RFC)
Rory O’Loughlin(St. Michaels)
Adam Byrne(Naas RFC)
So above squad is resourced by 10 clubs/schools.
That's a pretty good spread.
For anyone into maths it has the look of a typical normal distribution, a bell shaped curve (really only a half bell in this case)
Ergo a good profile.

19-22 now.

We're actually losing if you measure the score by the new system: Northampton 19 -3 St. Michael's

Friend of mine was at it and said that Salanoa is the hottest thing to come out of Hawaii since Mount Kilauea erupted in July, exciting times!

The match Report from Saints website, with totally understandable emphasis on Saints 'Young Guns'.

Notable that Molony, Doris and Baird were the Leinster players to do the full 80 minutes. Also good to see JGP return to play for the second-half. Really extraordinary to recognise the depth in the Squad yet again.

The O'Brien depth, with Tommy still to return, will be a real feature of our backlines this year. All this and James Lowe still to come at a later date!
