"The IRFU and Leinster Rugby have confirmed a two-year contract for Leinster Rugby Head Coach Leo Cullen.
Cullen, who won 221 caps for Leinster as a player, as well as 32 caps for Ireland, has been Head Coach since August 2015.
Speaking to leinsterrugby.ie, Leinster Rugby CEO Shane Nolan said, “This is great news for all Leinster Rugby supporters.
“Since 2015, Leo has done a remarkable job as Head Coach of Leinster Rugby and securing his signature was one of my top priorities."
Interesting that Shane Nolan feels the need to publicly seek credit for Leo's new contract.
It's not. Very dog bites man.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014
England A 8 - 14 Ireland A, 25th Jan 2014 Ruddock(c) 19/2 Tackles
Delighted that Leo is signed on for another two-year period at least. It will ensure continuity in the appointment of whoever succeeds Stuart Lancaster.
It is also possible that the Chair of the Professional Game Board (PGB) in Leinster, Frank Doherty, is also completing his term of office. He'll also be missed. Traditionally, the Head Coach, the Team Manager ( Guy Easterby), the CEO and the chair of the PGB, would have worked closely on contractual issues.
GT reporting we've made contact with MacDonald as was mentioned on here a few months back. That would be an exciting appointment. His son plays for Marys too right?
With Stuart Lancaster moving on to become the new head coach at Racing 92 at the end of the season after working for seven seasons alongside Cullen as Leinster’s senior coach, it is still expected that Cullen and Leinster will rejig the coaching ticket with an additional appointment to work with Andrew Goodman, Robin McBryde, Emmet Farrell and Sean O’Brien.
The new assistant will most likely come from the southern hemisphere and The Irish Times understands that one of those whom Leinster have had discussions with is the former All Blacks’ fullback Leon MacDonald.
MacDonald played 56 times for the All Blacks and is highly regarded as a coach after cutting his teeth with Tasman and then as the Crusaders backs coach for two seasons before becoming head coach at the Auckland Blues in 2019.

That sure would be an interesting and exciting appointment but the lad is already a head coach and a successful one - Blues won the title in 2021 and reached the final vs Crusaders last year. Might be part of a succession plan with Leo moving out in 2 years maybe but it'd be a slightly surprising move - it takes him off the radar for the All Blacks too. Joe was Ireland and Leinster's most successful ever coach and he kind of had to work his way back up the system when he went home.
Great news. Always composed and a fantastic steady hand at the tiller. Particularly important given all of the change in key personnel recently. Will be interesting to see how he configures the support team roles and personnel when Bomber leaves

They promoted Easterby to head of rugby operations a few years ago. His linkedin says it was 2014.

Sorry being a bit pedantic about the titles.
Some people find it hard to shake an old "nickname"

Anything to this rumour, started by ROG on Off The Ball (so massive pinch of salt), that Goodman might be leaving?
Was he not just speculating that Scott Robertson might go after his old Crusaders coaching ticket in response to being asked if he'd (ROG himself) would rejoin Robertson?

James Tracy spoke on OTB today, jokingly, of RO'G's "mind games" re Goodman potentially joining Robertson's NZ coaching ticket.

Yeah that was priceless
Well that’s not happening. NZ coaching group finalised.
