Leinster cheerleaders....

Post by leinster4life13 »

.....why is this not a thing? Even just until the end of sept and start again once the sun comes out after the 6 nations. Good wholesome fun and it gets the girls involved in sports! Its basically a win win. I know the SA sides have them, it would be a PR coup, and give some nice model/hot athletic chicks a side gig in these harsh economic times.

Yeah this is total nonsense, I'll keep the half time mini rugby, the dodgy announcer and let the rugby entertain me and leave the dancing girls to Sarries and Spearmint Rhino. Thanks Carlos.

I think it would be awesome.

Why not take the money we will save on Kane Douglas and invest it in something to give back to the fans.

Exactly, and if the rugby is half as bad as last year you could use it as a distraction from the onfield disaster, "why watch kirchner aimlessly hoof the ball when you can oogle some young one shaking her arse". I think we as fans deserve it.

Shouldn't that be "months after" the 6 nations?
By the time the sun comes out in this rainy land of ours, the season is almost over!! It was totally over this year

Leinster v Munster, Lansdowne Road October 2014.

We had cheerleaders, it was cringeworthy. They looked too young (teenagers) and Leinster fans were unhappy with this strange, non traditional form of rugby entertainment. Women's groups were livid in the press in the following days, we're talking about a sport that promotes the women's version of the game quite effectively and tries its best to be inclusive, we're talking about a team that attracts women and families as fans - frankly put, it was nothing short of an embarrassment.

We [thankfully] won't be seeing such a display at Leinster again any time soon.

Why would they be put off? Women have their knitting and gossip to occupy themselves during match time, so surely they would be happy enough that their men folk are suitably entertained during times of low activity on the pitch?

I don't understand the reluctance to move with the times. Look at the IPL, South African rugby and Sarracens ................. all champions of women's rights and family values.

On second thoughts :D. Why not get the woman and girls to knit socks for the teams during the matches. That would be a win win situation.

Cheerleaders are not a bad idea. They do not have to be scantily clad and some of them could be blokes. The idea is not to do a lap dance for a whole crowd but top actually lead a cheer. Saw a group at a american football game where after every score by their team they did push ups to match the score. The crowd liked it and cheered. They also did a more energetic version of Leo the lion banging his drum and asking for a cheer. The big problem is we do not have a good history in doing this type of thing well. It would be a bit scary to see what came out of this. Maybe it is a good idea that is worth leaving in the ideas box.

Scantily clad girls is never going to work for serious rugby.

If we are going to rely on the terrace a Leo then maybe we need a bigger terrace and Leo on speed....
