Leinster 2014/2015 Player of the Year?

Post by goreyguy »

Jack McGrath(13 appearances/749 minutes, 1 try)
Sean Cronin(19 appearances/1156 minutes, 2 tries)
Devin Toner(15 appearances/1132 minutes)
Mike McCarthy(22 appearances/1337 minutes)
Jamie Heaslip(15 appearances/1061 minutes)
Isaac Boss(20 appearances/933 minutes, 4 tries)
Ian Madigan(19 appearances/1412 minutes, 4 tries)
Luke Fitzgerald(16 appearances/1163 minutes, 1 try)

Possibly missing someone, but no standout performer for me makes it a tough enough decision.
Let me know and i'll add him to poll.

Saw more of Toner for Ireland than we did for Leinster for him to be my player of the year. Having said that I will now totally contradict myself and say McGrath for me.

Toner. MOTM in 2 pool games, immense yesterday and has developed into a crucial player for us. Heaslip second. Honourable mentions to Cronin and Fitzgerald.

Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

It's gotta be "Too Tall" Toner for me
Year on year he has improved as a player and I reckon his best is yet to come. He's had some teachers and he's taken something from each one. Be it Mal or Leo, Hines or Thorn and now POC.
Just an out and out workhorse, gets on with his job in an unassuming no fuss manner. Huge respect and he's a helluva a nice guy to boot

Has to be one of Nacewa, BOD or Sexton: think those guys have been mentioned more in newspaper articles on Leinster than any other.

That said, I vote for Heaslip. He dragged us almost into a European final.

Voted for Heaslip. Sheer bloody-minded will to win on his part almost dragged us to a European final. Not too many players have had stellar campaigns but he has been a big player all season. Toner & Cronin had solid campaigns.

True, we kind of take it for granted at this stage. If there was an award for the "Most Steadily Improving Player over the last 5 years or so" then Toner would have to win it.

There probably should be 3 awards:

Best Player
Best Young Player (aged under 25 at start of season, maybe under 26 for props)
Most improved
