Welcom to Leinster Kane. With the improvement in Toner's game, plus Mike Mac, Kane, Marshall and Ruddock if needs be we have some strength in depth at
a troublesome position. Kane may not be a Thorne or Hines type of player but he is more mobile and much younger and should prove a very good foil to the
second rows we already have.

Haven't totally given up on Roux yet. He is nearly 2 years here, so he does not have Stephen Sykes homesickness issues. 2 major injuries have constrained his gametime and I reckon the shoulder one has had a psychological effect on his tackling technique.

If he can get over that he has the power to kick on. AND he will be IQ in 12 months. Which means he won't take up a spot if he does manage to get another contract.

On Douglas.

He is a perfect signing IMHO. Physical enough to play TH lock beside Toner. Tall and athletic enough to play LH middle jumper beside McCarthy.

My Bro is a Waratahs season ticket holder and was more upset at the possibility of losing Potgieter (who is a bit like their version of Rocky Elsom for them) but Douglas is the man we need.

Hopefully he'll turn out to be a good signing. Certainly a 24 year old with a fair amount of caps for Australia should be a good signing. I too though would like to see another back, possibly 2 arrive soon.

Connacht got the best centre. Munster got 2 who are not as good (yet anyway)

I reckon we need some more bodies in the 3/4s but the problem is they need to be of decent quality or else why not use existing academy lads.

Reid. O'shea. A Byrne. Coughlan-Murray. Daly. Coughlan. Dardis. Farrell. + some first years who may come in and make the A team.

To supplement D'Arcy. Fanning. Fitzgerald. D Kearney. R Kearney. Kirchner. Macken. McFadden.

Not the total end of the world. And it would keep the folks who are always crying out for young guys to get a break happy

My only concern is his defence, he had the worst tackle complete/missed ratio in the Rugby championship last year. I think he made something like 63 tackles and missed 16, he also conceded 8 penalties which makes me wonder how lazy he is at the breakdown...

On the other had, he has a great set of hands and can run like a back, so that's a plus, I guess....

Does anyone know when his ARU contract expires? No definite arrival date for him announced. It would be really good to have him for pre-season so we can hit the ground running, especially with a new forwards coach.

It's great that he's signed, I really thought the plug had been pulled with the lack of info. Sounds like this is more than just a rugby decision so I hope he and his partner feel at home here and he goes on to be a big success. It's a ballsy move by him, the easy option would have been to stay.

Who takes the credit for the signing? Is it Guy Easterby/MOC.

Presumably at the end of the Tahs involvement with Super Rugby.

There is a new Aussie domestic tournament this year but........ It's fairly low level

I'm afraid you'll have to wait until about this time next year for the verdict on that. If he's a success then Guy will get all the credit.
