Not sure what to make of that, currently only a "consultant" in Japanese rugby..
Not much out there about him as a coach.

Re: Marco Caputo replacing Greg Feek
Wasn't he a forwards coach in the ITM, then hired by Joe to be scrum coach?Dave Cahill wrote:Greg Feek was a 'consultant' too initially
Caputo hasn't has the title of coach since 2011 when he was with the Brumbies.
Seems like the biggest factor in his favour is his long relationship with MOC.

No, Feek was a Scrum consultant. It's where the money is. Like Goals For Hire

An Australian scrum coach.
Re: Marco Caputo replacing Greg Feek
large difference in being a scrum consultant in NZ and Japan.. one being on the frontline of innovation, the other being a payday.
still lets wait and see..

Is Matt O'Connor secretly in the employ of the Munster branch? An aussie scrum coach, you couldnt make this up, where is Corrigan? Hiriing some Aussie from Japanese club rugby...the decline starts at the top.

Rubbish. Look at some of the players who've been playing there in recent years. From what I've read/heard, they've poured money into the game in order to have the game in a very healthy state in time for the World Cup, I would think this is an endorsement of his skills more than anything else.goreyguy wrote:if he was a brillant scrum coach he wouldnt be working in Japan.

Jobs for the boys! I hear an old Brumbies colleague is coming over to do the PA announcements at the RDS from next season.
In truth, none of us know anything about this guy, he could be the best scrum coach in the world, we'll just have to wait and see. It's disappointing to lose Feek because of how well guys like Healy's scrummaging has come on under him and how good pretty much all of our young props are, he must be pretty damn decent, aided by Corrigan in the academy no doubt.
My only slight, but so far baseless, concern is my wonder if O'Connor is hiring the best guys out there who he just happens to know, or is he hiring guys he knows rather than actually looking for the best guys out there.

Unfair dismissal. Google it.

Totally missed that.johng wrote:Unfair dismissal. Google it.
On Caputo, in my mind coaching in Japan doesn't make him automatically sh!t but I would question his ambition to be over there at this stage in his career. Here's hoping he's brilliant

Re: Marco Caputo replacing Greg Feek
Whoa! Totally missed the Reggie thing myself. That's a damn shame. What an absolute legend at Leinster, would hate to see relations sour. Well, I wonder if it crossed their minds to give him a call and propose dropping the case, no hard feelings, and coming back as senior scrum coach?
I wonder was quality an issue with not wanting to keep him on. That's a shame, I was hoping to keep as many ex-captains / club legends around the place, if nothing else, for "de pashun and ethos".

His Italian-sounding name is reassuring but an Australian scrum coach does not fill me with confidence.
