He's an expensive dud at Munster. No way Leinster would have him back.elephantman wrote: ↑March 4th, 2022, 2:59 pmCarbery should never have left but it’s difficult to see him returning now. Would he even get in to the Leinster first choice 23 now. I’m not so sure tbh.
Ironically, I think he will end up playing fullback regularly for Munster.

Re: Rumour Mill
Carbery would probably get in the Leinster 23. He'd probably also be a better player having played in a more suitable backline and with better competition.
All moot anyway as it won't happen.
There was a certain level of outrage from Munster fans when he was signed at the possibility that it was a temporary measure until Sexton retired. i.e. even when Sexton finishes it would be too much hassle to allow him move.
Literally the only thing that would change the above would be Carbery getting dropped by Munster.

Utter nonsense. He will never play for Leinster again.

Re: Rumour Mill
If he could stop getting injured every two months, he might be able to make a case but, on current form, I’m not who he would dislodge. Not Ross or Frawley; not Keenan or JOB.
He looks a shadow of his former self though. Very tentative. Lots of shovelling and crabbing. Rarely taking the ball to the line.
I would imagine that the injuries have taken their toll physically and mentally.
I also think the hyperbole around him in the media is really unhelpful. Presumably puts pressure on him.
It’s emperor’s new clothes stuff.
He had a reasonable outing against France, but made poor decisions and mistakes. Yet the entire media (and Farrell) claimed it was an excellent performance. He had a relatively poor performance against an Italian back line reduced by two players.
If the entire rugby establishment hadn’t invested their reputations so heavily in him, he might not even make the first XV at Munster.
Re: Rumour Mill
Munster were able to forestall a selection debate at 6 by simply not selecting Tadhg Beirne there for 2 years.
Munster fans remember when you miss kicks, not whether you were in the backline when the ball moved.
Some of the hyperbole is genuine and some is positivity to boost confidence.
