unfortunately boss and reddan are not going to win us the H-Cup again.
We really don't need a scrum-half. Boss and Reddan are both 32 and they're contracted for another season. Cooney is 22 and progressing well, deserves to have his contract renewed. Luke McGrath is the current Ireland U20s captain, in his second year on the team, and playing lights out rugby. He played for the Leinster senior team [against NGD] in his first season in the academy and is a smashing player. I've absolutely no fears about his transition into the senior ranks.
Reddan has 49 international caps, three Heineken Cup winner's medals, has played in two RWCs and has played in a number of different teams [aside from Leinster, he's lined out for Munster, Connacht and Wasps] and two different leagues; Boss has got two HEC winner's medals, has also played in two RWCs and again has played for multiple teams [Chiefs, Hurricanes, Ulster] – you'd struggle to find any scrum-halves with those qualifications who are better placed to 'develop the youth coming through'. Both of those lads know the two youngsters well at this stage and are well-versed in the Leinster style of play and what that demands of a scrum-half.
