Why not do both.
It's a drop in the ocean.

Leinster concentrate all their efforts on marketing competitive games and almost discourage these events. 1 event can take from another. And it's a wildly successful policy.

This time they're moving around various AIL clubs, probably partly as a favour to the clubs who mightnt be the biggest fans of this tournament. It's a chance to get out and around the province. It's great.
Unless the Ulster game is outside south Dublin then this is a serious stretch

A massive stretch. Barely outside D4, just in D6W.

I expect there will be a strong side for the games in November.

While I expect it will be weaker at Christmas.
Would be controversial to short sell fans who pay good money for the Christmas home game.
what are you talking about?

Its an A game.
Leinster play Connacht on 21 December in Lansdowne Road. It is not an A game.
You said that they will pick a weaker side at Christmas.

One could ask what you’re talking about, as I very much doubt our selection for this A game will be stronger than the Christmas home game.

We aren't talking about the senior team. We are talking about the A team. The A team will be weaker at Christmas than the one selected in November.

On a more serious not, my only rugby experience with Terenure was inclusive tag rugby and they were exceptional hosts.

The royal we?

I wasn't even aware there were A games over the Christmas break. Is that the case?
Yet another case of the fans being kept in the dark so.

It's great some of you have inside lines, but it is pretty crazy how little transparency there is on this, as with so many aspects of Leinster.

Edit - I see now the IRFU published the details on the day after I made my comment.

When was Leinster's last game? When is our next one?

A couple of weeks ago and the 29th. Not sure what the relevance of that is?

Mildly’s talking about selections for A games in a thread about an A game. I don’t think he needs to spell out that he’s talking about the A team every post

Edit: I see what I’ve done now. My first post should have been quoting Curates. Not questioning the need for a thread, the more Leinster discussion over the AI break the better

Exactly. A thread about one A game.

At the time, it was not known there were more A games - except for people with privilege to information that is not in the public domain, like Mildly.
The only "Christmas games" that were in the public domain were non-A games.
Hence, why Mildly's post confused me.

It's great there are more.

With no access to internationals but full access to the rest of our senior squad and AIL on that weekend I think we're going to be seeing 2 fairly strong sides for this.

With Herring and Kelleher barely back from fitness I would be shocked if both get through NZ unscathed. There's a strong chance of a debut for Gus the night before this A game I think.

Could see a team of

McCarthy
McKee
Slimani
Deeny
COT
Deegan
Connors
Culhane
Gunne
R Byrne
Larmour
Brownlee
Turner
Russell
JOB
Smyth
Boyle
McGuire
Mangan
Penny
Foley
H Byrne
Tector

On the face of it that's a stupidly strong A team   My logic is Leo will want to keep some of his lads fresh.

I'm assuming we're getting Boyle back from Dev camp as the only other option is Usanov although this might be a good fixture for him.

Assuming Conan, Soroka and Barron are still injured. Assuming Mangan is fit again.

Yes I've left Luke out. These aren't minutes he needs where as they are very much minutes Gunne needs.

There are a chunk of academy guys who I can see playing AIL that weekend but might filter in for the return fixture in December. Gabriel, Cooney, McErlean, R Moloney

Why play Slimani in the A games - I assume we will use it to give more exposure to the developing props. Save his legs for the next batch of Euro / Xmas games
I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role.
I've got nothing against your right leg.
The trouble is ... neither have you

I was guessing we might see him get some game time in one of the games for sharpness/match fitness but I'm thinking a run off the bench rather than starting.

I'd expect to see Tector and Cooney in the centre against Ulster in the next league game, so this A game would be perfect for them to get used to playing together.
