And you getting a public warning! Quelle suprise. Read what you wrote but didn't see anything bad in it. Noticed he didn't warn his fellow moderator who had certainly been inflammatory. Storm in a tea cup but poor mr chips is making up for some other deficiency I reckon.
Nah, Chippie’s grand. Don’t for the life of me, however, know why I’d be top of the cease and desist list but sure it’s way too much of a first world problem to get excited about…

I think to be fair if I had recently posted on that thread I would have been warned too. As you say no point in getting excited. The difference between the two sites is interesting though. Put in perspective I don't think I've ever heard someone getting banned from here but it is a monthly event there. Wondering if it is a socio-economic thing?

I would bet nobody mentioned Quinnie's gouging.
MF is actually quite good these days, bar a few that hate any Leinster who has an International spot.
Soon get fond fond of any Leinster who lands up there, if you count Salaanoa and the academy lad about 7 with a Leinster connection.

I think we have a fairly poor record under Busby or at least we had!
Under Frank we've played 12, won 6, lost 6

sounds like keeping it close will be a victory in itself.
It's funny reading that from a Leinster perspective there is an incredible amount of downplaying as you suggest. Read it from a Munster perspective it will be seen as over-hyping Leinster from a Dublin based meeja. However, I wonder is it just realistic?
Munster will get a huge mental boost from beating Leinster? Really? Both teams know who was sitting in the stands on the day of the semi final. They are certainly getting their excuses in nice & early.

They did. That article reads like he’s arguing back and forth before reluctantly plumping down on one side. Fair enough to me. Not much wrong with it. It looks like we may have a more full bore side out (though they did con us with that the poor mouth on injuries last year). The optimistic way of looking at that from their perspective is look what it did Leinster’s confidence to beat them with the youngsters?

I can't see Jager being involved. Whatever about scrummaging, and general gameplay patterns, how would he learn the lineout calls and lifts in enough time to not be a liability?

Rowntree has already (somewhat jokingly) committed to having Archer in the 23 because if he gets capped he becomes their all time most capped player, so they'd be making a decision to plump for Jager over John Ryan, which would surprise me.

Agree, but there’s a school of thought that says Baird has the 6 jersey so let’s see what he goes for.
I’d have Conan in the bench but would give Henshaw another week.

Yeah, had the exact same thought today - would love to see Joe McCarthy lay down a marker this Saturday night.

I'm just glad it isn't Brace. I saw a graphic showing how much all the refs penalised the attacking team and the defending team in the World Cup, and if I recall right 70% or more of the penalties Brace gave were against the team in possession.

offshorerules wrote: November 21st, 2023, 9:15 am Rumours that Henshaw and Conan both returning on Saturday and that Leinster will be fully 'stacked'.
Don't really agree with parachuting these two back in for a game of this significance. There are alternates in their positions who are playing well, and both have played very little meaningful rugby over the past few months.

If Conan is in the 23 then there will be no place for some or all of Baird, Penny, Connors, Deegan, not to mention young players like Culhane who've shown up well this year.

Similar if Henshaw is in then in all likelihood Osborne or Ngatai, guys who've played well this year, lose out.
The big challenge for the coaches this season is re-integration post RWC. Some of the players should have been back earlier having not played a massive part in the world cup but we are where we are. The re-integration isn't just the players it's 2 of the most important members of the coaching team. Clearly, Munster is a massive game for us but in Henshaw and Conan we are talking about 2 starting Lions both and we've only got Connacht away before La Rochelle away. Think we might see a couple of players who've been going well sit this out (Deegan maybe who has been brilliant), they aren't being dropped we just need the full panel available with a game or 2 in the tank for La Rochelle.
Without wanting to be provocative, I don’t really credit that Conan was a “starting Lion” a couple of years ago, justifies him being picked over form players. That was then; this is now. Jack shouldn’t be just automatically dropped back into the squad for a key match, both on grounds of squad unity- but also on form.

I’m aware you are probably using the ‘Lions starter’ as shorthand for top grade. And okay, he’s definitely an excellent player, when at his best, but through no fault of his- just circumstances, Conan has no real form for us currently. Maybe if picked, he’ll hit the ground running- but maybe he won’t. And I don’t see that we have to take a risk. We have very strong options.

At the base of the scrim, Jack’s natural position, Deegan has form, Penny has form - even Culhane has form. And the obvious player that should occupy the number 8 shirt: Doris, is playing as well as ever. Barring injury, or an inconceivable sudden loss of form, Caelan won’t be displaced by Conan- in my opinion.

Anywhere else he can play? Unlike a few here, some handling mistakes notwithstanding- I thought Josh played very well against Scarlets, and since he returned. So he (or at a push- the also ever excellent Penny) is likely to get the open side slot.

Although he can play there, Jack’s not really a 6- and certainly not an open side, so do you then select him as a sort of wild card back row replacement, without demonstrated form- covering all the positions, for this important tranche of matches? Or do you trust the players that have talent and are in form?

Conan should be reintroduced to the match squad as spaces and form dictates, not on the basis of some notional status.
