Looking at this hotel - http://www.hotel-bonaparte.com.
Seems quite close to the ground itself. Getting pretty excited.

Anyone got any ideas, decent websites?
French trains can easily be booked on the SNCF site
The English language version is very good and easy to use

By the way for Toulouse you need to change in Marseille so it will take more like 5 to 6 hours by train to Toulouse
from Toulon but there are plenty of trains during the day

Glying into Nice, still to make a decision where to fly home from. Trains from Toulon to Toulouse on the day we're heading home (7th) aren't that great.
Also, pricey!
Just the 1 train!

Indeed : there's no fast train line between Toulouse and Toulon, it's as boring and expensive as by car... Maybe longer because need to change in Marseille... That's why there are few.
You'd better had chosen Lyon, if you could of course... Way much closer.

Good luck.

Just got an email from Aer Lingus saying that there was an update to the itinerary for this trip, due to a change in flight times.

Cue heart becoming stuck in throat.

Actually, it just means that the flight out is arriving five minutes earlier than previously scheduled.

The Killester and JWT charters will be arriving in Toulon about 11.20 Sat morn, so I reckon there will be around 400 or so fans in town looking for decent pubs to watch our country and Northern cousins.
It going to be a long day!!!!

Jaysus, can everyone keep a low profile? Herself is still under the impression we are on a romantic weekend in the south of France. This lot could let the cat out of the bag good and proper.

The village is on the Place Besagne, near by the Ibis Styles Hotel, the stadium and the mall.
All bars and restaurants around on fire as well.
Don't be shy : what happens in Toulon stays in Toulon...

P.S. : it's already sunny 20°C down here nowadays. 8)

The village area is right outside the RCT cafe - a good spot to hang out on match days. Otherwise, the best of the few Irish pubs in Toulon is probably the Guinness Bouc right opposite the train station.

Two of us are driving to Toulon on the sunday morning, two others going on a JWT package. We are looking for somewhere nice for Sunday lunch - we are not big drinkers, but like good food and wine - any suggestions, Toulon fan?

Well of course, the finests you'd find are "Le Petit Nice" in Marseille http://www.passedat.fr/en/ 1 star in Guide Michelin.
"Chez Bruno" in Lorgues ; all truffles specialities http://www.restaurantbruno.com/ the longest trip from Toulon, about 1 hour drive.
You can drive to"La Petite Cour" http://www.laptitecour.com/ in Sanary-sur-Mer, it worths the short detour.
In Toulon :
"Les Pins Penchés" http://lespinspenches.com/en/index.php usually privatized by RCT partners on game days...
"Les Regates" http://www.lesregates.fr/
"Le Lido de Toulon" http://www.lelidodetoulon.com/
If you like fresh fishes "Au Sourd" near Toulon's Opera http://www.ausourd.com/4/

Personnaly I've never been disapointed at
"La cave de Lilith" (restaurant and fine wines) http://cavedelilith.com/ near by Mayol, (but probably already full booked for that sunday now, but with luck who knows).
"Le Café des Arts" http://www.mourillon.fr/?Bar-Restaurant/Cafe-des-Arts
both close to Mayol.

And there are some decent restaurants all allong Mourillon beach a bit farther.

Brilliant info., many thanks. Three of us are staying until Tuesday so will try a couple of these. I see that a number of these restaurants are not open on Sunday - is that likely to be the case the day of the match? For the pre match lunch, we will try and get somewhere near the stadium as one of our party that day is carrying an injury.

Can't wait to get there!

Looked at this during lunchtime, and decided to go for it.
No problem getting 3 tickets (they were still available in my Leinster Rugby season ticket account). Went for the cheap option - €34 each behind the posts.
Out with Ryanair @ 7am 06/04 - €147 total for 3 of us.
Back with Aer Lingus @ 23.20 06/04 - €212 total for the 3 of us.
Will look into transport now - probably the supporters bus.
Anyway, thanks for highlighting this. Looking forward to it big time
