So, Argentina v France in the Final.
Arguably the greatest World Cup ever.
Nearly 1m watched the Eng v Fra game on Saturday in the Republic, about half of them will deny it and then drive off in their 4x4
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

What a final, what a World Cup! The best in my lifetime by a mile.
A glorious end to the Messi/Ronaldo era.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,

Some numbers coming out about the World Cup in Qatar
-1.5 billion around the world watched the Final between Argentina and France
-around 5 billion people engaged with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
-there have been 93.6 million posts across all platforms
-with a 262 billion cumulative reach and 5.95 billion engagements.
-3.4 million spectators - up from 3 million in 2018
-172 goals ensured that Qatar 2022 became the highest scoring FIFA World Cup in history, eclipsing the previous highest total of 171, in both 1998 and 2014

1.5 billion is probably an underestimation too
What a tournament!

Result for the Redmen last night. A good omen for the weekend?

If you think some rugby referees are bad, check out the referee and VAR display in the Spurs v Liverpool game. Absolutely comical, I can't believe they got so many critical decisions so wrong.

It stinks a bit if you ask me. Biased but that was ridiculous.

The two red cards were red cards. The offsite was a dreadful decision.

Jota was stupid as he was already on a yellow but that first yellow card was ridiculous as the guy basically tripped himself up. So thats questionable. Its also a yellow card to ask for another player to be booked and the guy who trips himself asks for Jota to be booked and he was already on a yellow card so by the letter of the law he should have got a second yellow card.

The Jones red is not clear cut either. When you look at a still, it looks bad but at full speed its a nothing incident. He stands on the ball and his foot rolls forward and there is no power and its not a dangerous tackle and so called "experts" have said its a harsh red card so its not just me. Last season Kane nearly cut Robertson in half with a lunge and it wasn't even a yellow card. No consistency depending on who they are dealing with.

The offside beggars belief and the bullshit that PGMOL are coming out with doesn't have any credibility. It wasn't even a difficult one where the margins are miniscule. Offside should be the one part of the game that VAR is clear cut on but the implementation of the technology in England is pathetic - default position is prove the on-field decision is correct first and not use it as a tool to get the decisions right.

Jota ran behind him and clipped him. Pretty clear yellow to me. He got red because of the second one. It was on him and he knew it the second he made the challenge.

He went in for a challenge, slid over the top of the ball and hit his opponent square in the shin. Full speed, slow speed, it doesn't matter. Its a possible leg breaker. Its a red.

Plenty of "experts" have said they were both red cards too.

On a side point, I thought Liverpool were awesome, especially in that last 20 mins. Really felt for Matip. He didn't deserve that.

Doesn't change the fact that goals change games and that was the glaring mistake.

I think the precedent was set in the early 00's when Arsenal offered Sheffield a replay.

That isn't going to happen, but if it forces the PL and PGMOL to make all communication between on field ref and VAR public then it'll have been worth it.

A precedent that Liverpool have followed by offering a replay to every team that had a bad refereeing decision go against them?

To be fair this was a bit more than a bad refereeing decision.

Just seeing this now. Jota didn't clip him. He tripped himself up. It was clear on the reply.
Anyhoo.. it matters not now a month later!

Another satisfying win. Darwin coming into his own. On a side note I'd almost feel sorry for Utd fans. Almost.
