Re: 6 Nations 2024

Frawley at 15 and Lowe at 11 has a whole lot more upside and looks way more solid than Lowe at 15 and Stockdale at 11. No idea why you'd want to move one of our best backs out of the position he has played almost exclusively since he has come to Ireland and get Stockdale in. Frawley has played a go...

Re: A whiff of Cordite

andy dunne calling for larmour to play centre and if leinster dont view him there that he should consider his future, of course gets a mention of Frawley doing the same too  I think utility back is probably larmours best shot at more Ireland caps so maybe not the maddest idea going. Faz is a b...

Re: Connacht 2023/24

Connacht upskilling coaches like mossy lawler who then returns to his home province and poaches one of their best attackers will make them second guess hiring Irish coaches outside the province. Farrell is a known fan of kilgallen so maybe wanted him to move too. Bad day for Connacht though Don't s...

Re: Leinster vs Benetton, Feb 17th, 2024

I would think that Frawley being released is to give him time in the saddle at 15 before Wales. There's obviously a slight risk to that in him taking a knock, but probably a good call, particularly considering he has played just 1 minute in the last two months and his last game at 15 was on NYD. Ye...

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24

I see Paul kimmage has gotten his knickers in a twist (in a non-sexist/non-gendered way of speaking 🙄) about drug testing in schools rugby. It was that time of year again I suppose 😂 Paul Kimmage is great but just not sure what this article is based on. Zero evidence but sur throw out an accusation...

Re: Trends

Not really a trend, but a question: if Bielle Barry had been clipped/pushed by the Scottish No14 just after he chipped the ball, do you think France would have been awarded a penalty try? video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBvh2SsKwEo He is absolutely surrounded by Scottish defenders, but ends u...

Re: 6N: Ireland Italy - Dublin 3pm Sun 11 Feb 2024

That was definitely a satisfactory performance from us - six tries to zero, keeping them entirely off the scoreboard [a very difficult thing to do in rugby at any level] and a good rotation of players who came in and performed well, particularly Conan, McCloskey and Baird. We normally score more po...

Re: A New Era 2023/24 season and beyond: Front Row

Blackrock tighthead Niall Smyth is a big lad https://www.sportsfile.com/winshare/w540/Library/SF1440/2721658.jpg Didn't realise he was still in school. I saw him at the U19s trophy walk-around at halftime at one of the games – he's a really big unit. Funnily enough, saw both this lad and SPICER aro...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

To be honest it's probably one of the weakest 6N's ever and it's not just Wales. This round 2 was probably one of the worst rounds i've seen in a long time in terms of overall quality. None of the games were very entertaining (bar a TMO call in Murrayfield) and even Ireland were only in about third...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

Paddy Power has us at 1/6 to win 6N's but interestingly they have us at 22 point favourites to beat Wales. That's huge. I think we'll do a number on Wales. I think that this is one of the worst Welsh teams I have seen in a long, long time – twenty years or so. I've been shocked that they have been ...

Re: Leinster vs Benetton, Feb 17th, 2024

I wonder might they release Larmour or Frawley to play given our lack of back three options and their need for game time? Might be a good test run if Keenan is out for Wales. Byrne, McKee, Mike, Molony, Jenkins, Deegan, Penny, Culhane, McGrath, Ross/Sam, Russell, Brownlee, Turner, TOB, Larmour? Bar...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

I see Ireland are 1/7 to win 6N. After 2 matches. Normally there is nothing better than seeing overwhelming favourites getting hosed by an outsider. This year lets hope its different and David can take a beating and we can wallow in wonder at the greatness of Goliath. The Six Nations has a history ...

Re: Irish U20s 2024

Re the choke tackle and general scrummaging, why nit just get the ball in then out channel 1 ball? Trying to lick a scrum thats going backwards is a mugs game It's probably best exercised against England as a surprise tactic. They will milk us for points in the set-piece if we try and scrummage the...

Re: Irish U20s 2024

My under standing is that Jacob Boyd normally plays loosehead and tighthead is something he can turn his hand to, but out of his comfort zone. That's a tough situation to find yourself in – you're out there trying to hold up your end for the team but not really given the option to put your best foot...

Re: Irish U20s 2024

Absolutely demolished in the scrum. Slaughtered. Going for choke tackles is a stupid decision when you are struggling that badly in the scrum. You're handing the opponent a good chance to get a penalty. We could have been penalised in 75-80% of the scrums in the game, we were third best out there. D...
