What about 5:3 with Ringrose?
Ringrose on the wing with Keenan retained at full back would have been better than what happened.

England should still have won though.

Re: England v Ireland Saturday 9th March 2024 4.45pmTwickenham

I think it's fair to say on the day we saw the two better sides almost come out even in most departments, both sides blooding inexperienced players and both looking good for the future. As far as I am concerned you measure yourselves against who you see as the best around, going into yesterdays gam...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

Gatland walking out of the interview is priceless. bet he regrets coming back to welsh rugby now. He left a legend. big game next week against Italy. Oh I missed that I'm mistaken. Gatland was kept waiting for an interview...walked out but came back later. genuinely caught short perhaps but not a t...

France have problems in the centre, we don’t.

Also: he’s French from France so fair play to him.

Didn't actually see a replay of Nash getting KO'd. Did he hit his head off the guy's hip or what happened? Looked like it yeah EDIT: And was Frawley a HIA as well? put in a big defensive hit. may have hit hip or knee. he was knocked from the collision. Thought it was a bit off with the commentary t...

Re: England v Ireland Saturday 9th March 2024 4.45pmTwickenham

That match clearly showed the urgent need to move on from POM and Murray Though McCarthy was out played, as was Beirne. Sheehan was quiet too. Why not get rid of them too. We coudl probably get rid of some coaches too. McCarthy was anonymous, Beirne wasn’t, O’Mahony was only conspicuous when he was...

Also not sure why we persist in throwing to the tail occasionally, it always costs us But the alternative is the sh!t ball we won at the front. Our Maul didnt funciton so we were feeding the backs absolute rubbish. The English really did a number on our lineout, regardless of how many we won. Hones...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

Not to get carried away but Italy's best six nations was 2013 where they got 2 wins. They have one win and a draw so far with one game to go. If they beat Wales it will be their best ever six nations. Here’s hoping. I guess people have the France match down as a should have won if the officials did...

I love the idea that we won’t be a “O’Gara’s team” or a “Sexton’s team” again. That a future Sexton as they age out will be like a Murray is now rather than the main man.

I think we should celebrate other provinces contributing. It’s the 20s. We support them all.

If they cause us problems in a few years that’s for a few years. Surely the competition will be good for us and Ireland in particular.

TMC wrote: March 7th, 2024, 3:54 pm Is SB being brave and sticking to his guns and continuing to focus on developing a new style and ignoring the outside noise (a al AF in 2020/21) as he knows the championship is gone or is he just picking random players under media pressure. Hard to know which it is. This selection with Ford at 10 – who is a guy I really rate – comes across as halfway pregnant. Its like he wants to play the guys who can cause havoc if given ball and space but is persisting with Ford at 10 because he instinctively distrusts a 10 like Marcus Smith who revels when the game becomes unstructured.

Can’t believe in the form he has been in this year Ringer is surplus to requirements for a trip to Twickenham. Noticed he is a travelling reserve, suspect if Keenan has an adverse reaction its Frawley in and Gary to the bench. Gervaise seems to imply that Jager was ahead of Bealham, would be very surprised by that. FB has an immense body of work for Ireland and a much more ridiculous barnet. Would still see a good bit of clear water between him and OJ. Rotten luck for James Ryan too, hopefully he can get back fit for the first week in April and come back raring to go and prove a point or two.

As an aside question re James Lowe, does anyone know if he is officially linked to Clondalkin RFC? I was under the impression he was. If so it’s a bit much to exclude them from the listing just because they are still a junior club.
I find the narrative among some of England’s supporters that Borthwick thick and basic to be very unconvincing. That said this selection has many of them quite optimistic. Why would he pick Steward against the team who kick longest and kick fewest contestables? Why not try out a nimble back three instead?

Ireland have had terrible lineout problems more often than not in the last ten matches. Pick three locks against that as our attacking can be stifled without safe ball from touch.

England are already very good at making us play badly, if they can add a bit of play themselves, and this is a team selected to play, they’ll be quite confident.

That said I love being the favourites and it will never get old for me. Dogged hope, bite and b*%&!cks, before an inevitable collapse may make the media happy about the audience at the stadium, but I’ll take steely eyed professional efficiency and mercilessness every time.

Most English I see are really happy with the team. I don’t see their domestic rugby at all any more so I don’t really know. Have the odds shifted with this sentiment?

Don’t think I was one of those over confident in 2019 - I thought Henshaw at FB was dead wrong. Against the kickingest team out there at the time too. Sure he’d played most of a season there in a lower standard league than now, but he didn’t look up to it at Ireland A level. Frawley wouldn’t be as b...

I agree that the World Cup has just decided the best team in the world and we don’t know for how long. There’s not only one quality though, one off matches isn’t everything, consistently not letting your standards drop is also a quality of greatness. O’Gara’s failure to get his head around winning l...
