As a former Shannon player and life-long fan as well as a Munster fan, I would like nothing more than seeing Okeke make a breakthrough.
In my opinion Munster can never have too many Shannon players, but that doesn’t mean that I blindly push players forward.

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????
It will be a minor shame in my opinion if Daniel Okeke is squeezed out by Quinn/Gleeson. The latter are probably more rounded players but Okeke showed a very promising ability to win collisions in senior rugby, as a 19 year old, in the Wasps game. He beat 6 defenders in that game. https://twitter.c...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????
It's a better problem to have than producing 1 backrow every 4 years (O'Mahony, O'Donoghue, Coombes) and no regular international under 30. Probably not a problem at all. Among other things POM will be 34 before Munsters season starts. If there's gonna be a gametime squeeze with teenage upstarts, i...

Re: RWC 2023: Ireland
Very good player but he has his work cut out to displace one of the regulars. It's great to see Farrell giving him the opportunity Very true. He has a lot of work and very little time and age is probably not his friend. It can’t be easy after so long out of the game, but I really hope he can put hi...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????
So who is the 6 and who is the 8? Gleeson looks like he could be exceptional. To be honest, I would probably expect Coombes to move to 6 in that combination, but it’s only hypothetical and Gleeson may end up more of a Deegan than a Doris. On Quinn, I actually see him more of a 6/8 than a 7. For me ...

Re: Ireland U20s 2023
If he was carrying an injury as suggested, then that is a failing by the Irish coaching ticket. Eh what? Injuries in general are the coaches fault or just this one? It was reported that Prendergast had an ankle injury between the South African tour and the Junior World Cup. Some people have suggest...

Re: Ireland U20s 2023
My post was not an attempt to bring Prendergast back down to earth. I would actually be surprised if he logs on here to read comments. My post was in relation to the obvious deficiencies in the Irish defence which seen them leak a fair number of tries across the tournament. The defence was an obvio...

Re: RWC 2023: Ireland
Great to hear that Conway has made a return to training. I had heard rumours that he was dealing with a potentially career ending issue, so it is brilliant to hear that this wasn’t correct. If he can get fit and get close to his pre injury form, then he could really add the back 3 options. https://m...

Re: Ireland U20s 2023
Ireland were the second best team tonight and across the tournament, that is no small achievement for our small island. Looking at the performance of our players, we stood up ok for 40 mins, but to my surprise we struggled for the second 40. Defence has been a massive issue for this group. Not sure ...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????
Delighted to see that Munster have announced that they have a formal request in place to host the Crusaders match in PUC. A 41000 sell out will be a great spectacle and boost to the bottom line. I know I’m almost like a broken record in this, but after years of financial mismanagement, or the appear...

Re: RWC 2023: Ireland
Hearing second hand from a good source that it went very well for Johnny and there will be no sanction. Will probably hear tomorrow once the independent panel has unravelled the evidence given and written up its decision. Fingers crossed. The whole thing is ANOTHER farce by the EPRC. That's not to ...

Re: RWC 2023: Ireland
Really feel for Sexton at the moment.
I’d imagine that the wait to hear his fate is worse than any potential ban.
It’s hard to know what to take away from the drawn out process. It could be both positive and negative that it is taking so long.

Re: United Rugby Championship
It is very intersting to see the (parochial?) slant being put on the viewing figures. To me what jumps out more than anything is that the viewing figures are SA driven, given that all bar one of the top 10 games involved SA teams. To me it suggests nothing more than that there is a far bigger rugby...

Re: United Rugby Championship
It would be interesting to see a time of day / day of week / channel(s) showing breakdown, to see how they could optimise viewing numbers by tinkering the schedule That is a very good point when you take the derby figures into account. The Munster v Leinster game is traditionally played on Stephen’...

Re: United Rugby Championship
Rugby isn’t very popular in Leinster. It’s much more popular in Munster and Ulster and Connacht has better goodwill on the island. Munster supporters don’t casually watch Leinster. This year the change has been that they now believe enough to not actively avoid Leinster even when they are playing M...
