Re: United Rugby Championship

Rugby isn’t very popular in Leinster. It’s much more popular in Munster and Ulster and Connacht has better goodwill on the island. Munster supporters don’t casually watch Leinster. This year the change has been that they now believe enough to not actively avoid Leinster even when they are playing M...

Re: Ireland U20s 2023

Still no full profile stats for all the players but if I assume the Irish pack weight shown was correct at 917kg (I think) and given the small bits of info I have picked up over the few weeks (podcasts etc) and some profiles online. I would have the following weights for the players. P. McCarthy 11...

Re: United Rugby Championship

Amazing to see the 2 provinces with the lowest population come out on top in the viewership stakes. For Munster to top the billing 2 seasons in a row must do something for the marketability of the team. It would be good to hear a marketeers perspective on this, to get a real sense of the value of h...

Re: Ireland U20s 2023

McNabney is one of our star players, who imo has to start.
Ireland will need the backrow to do a mountain of work against France in order to have a hope of winning.

Re: RWC 2023: The Other Teams

While I am completely in agreement with many of the IRFUs viewpoints on NIQ player contracts, such as not renewing when a player is over a certain age, not giving more than 1 contract (in general) not giving contracts in positions where an Irish international or potential international is available...

Re: Ireland U20s 2023

Delighted with that win today. To win a grand slam and make a World Cup final in the same year shows what a special group of players Ireland have on their hands. France will not be an easy task, they have had a good run together as a squad over the last few weeks and look to have really gelled. Can’...

Re: RWC 2023: The Other Teams

I'm obviously in a small minority who think that Kleyn should be f%~ked out of Munster straight away. He was contracted (to the IRFU) on the basis that he could become IQ. He did and he is not anymore. Therefore his value to the IRFU is considerably less. In addition, we will have the likely scenar...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

I know that this is definitely getting ahead of myself, but I am massively excited by Gleeson. With another year of U20s to come, he already looks like a real standout player. He looks ready to play senior rugby already and should see some minutes of senior action in the coming months. His power is ...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Ryan’s return and the improving form of Barron loughman and Wycherley leaves room for hope with the front row. Second row fine with the hope that Ed Ed and Aherne really push thro this year. You’d hope we won’t be looking at the market there this time next year. Backrow is improving. Poms form argu...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

 I get you, but..... of the six senior locks they have only three are any good. Beirne and Snyman top class but injury prone. Kleyn - reliable but never gonna set the world alight much like our Ross Maloney. After that the drop off is huge. Yes Edogbo and Ahern have huge potential but both sp...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

10 is a concern with Healy gone, and imo Munster should be looking to bring in additional cover there as I’m not sold on Butler. What other positions do you as being worse off next season in comparison to the one just gone? I can see second row being an issue. Beirne, Snyman and Ahern are all injur...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Yeah but they have 6 senior locks, and 2 ones in the academy who have already played senior rugby and are set for gametime (Edogbo has already signed a senior contract, so it's stretching it to call him an academy player). Will probably be only 2 at the RWC but even with 3 it's a lot. Munster were ...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

I think Munster will struggle next season. They have no squad depth at all. If Crowley gets injured they are in serious trouble. 10 is a concern with Healy gone, and imo Munster should be looking to bring in additional cover there as I’m not sold on Butler. What other positions do you as being wors...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Match confirmed to be going ahead.
PUC is being looked at as a potential location for what could be a sell out game against arguably the worlds best club side.

I am really looking forward to this.

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

It's a baiscially a pre season firendly. 100% that’s what it is. But it’s a very exciting prospect none the less. I for one would love to see this match going ahead. It would be a great spectacle. Both on and off the field this could be great. This could potentially result in around €1m in extra re...
