no thanks. Someone who understands how the central contracting systems works would be enough.

Re: Tommy Bowe next season.

so how are the provinces going to offer Bowe a contract if he's on a central contract then? I'd love to know.

my point was that neither Leinster or Munster could offer more because he would be paid by the IRFU and not the province. Bit hard for Leinster to offer more money in that case isn't it?

Re: Tommy Bowe next season.

that maybe true but in terms of the basic contract it seems unlikely that Leinster would be able to offer a bigger contract than Munster as was stated above. What an utterly absurd thing to say. What was stated above was that Leinster made a bigger offer. Not that Munster were unable to match, or i...

Re: Tommy Bowe next season.

How can any individual province offer a player a better contract than any other province if that player is on a central contract - unless I'm mistaken and the provinces top up central contracts which I don't believe is the case. this is nothing to do with Munster being better or even Leinster being ...

Re: Tommy Bowe next season.

Surely he would have been on an IRFU central contract (which as far as I'm aware are not topped up by the provinces) and therefore all the provinces would be on an equal footing in terms of the basic contract he would have been offered. Ulster would be at a disadvantage as the Irish tax rebate sche...

Re: Tommy Bowe next season.

Bowe has just signed a contract extension with the Ospreys, that ends the Bowe rumor mill for another while. Confirmation of new deal with the Ospreys: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_union/8432378.stm Fair play to him - staying with the Osprey's for a few more years, before returning to Ulste...

Re: Gaffney to depart at end of season

Thats a lot of change to the management structure in a short period of time - its taken the team years to find their rhythm under cheika and now there is going to be wholesale change to the coaching ticket. There is such a short period of time for the main players and the new coaches to get to know...

thats the deadline for the citing but the ERC tend to wait until all the citings are complete and then announce them all together. Won't probably know until tomorrow at some stage.

Re: Munster thread 2009/10

Stan would be in the Ireland squad if qualified. The way he's come on has been very impressive. Great defender as well as a solid scrummager. Comer Toes, I believe Dave Ryan is a LH (unfortunately). Timmy is a TH. Deasy is playing 12 for the As and Jones looks like our long term 15. Hurley has an e...

Re: Munster thread 2009/10

I'm a leinster man but have a fair idea of the Munster next in line and a rough idea of their potential; 15. Deasy - good prospect, godd hands, pace, boot - can play 10, and maybe 12, as well 14. Chap that scored a few ML tries last year, no great pace but looks a nice footballer and good finisher ...

Re: Sexton injured?

Since Strauss has been already added to the squad I'm not sure another player can be registered before the knockout stages of the ERC - therfore any signing would be for the ML only. I'm sure one of the statto's can confirm if I'm right or wrong. http://www.ercrugby.com/eng/13_5544.php?section=2 Do...

Re: Team to play the BOKs

picking Horgan after he butchered some many oppertunities on Sat? To be fair to Leamy he did no worse than any of the other options Ferris, Healsip etc would have done at openside for that game. SOB did ok when he came on but if Leamy is fit I reckon Kidney will keep him on the bench for the weekend...

Re: Bye Bye Bull

I think the reports of Hayes's demise are being greatly exagerated. His scrummagging has never been top notch but hsi fringe defense and especially the lineout have been world class. Court wasn't great with the lineout lifting on Saturday and we have yet to see him really tested at TH and Ross can't...

No he doesn't.
so who else does? Ross who can't cover both sides. I stand to be corrected but isn't Ross only on a provincial contract where as Buckley is on central contract and can cover both sides.

MUNSTER (v Coventry): Felix Jones; Danny Riordan, Tom Gleeson, Scott Deasy, Denis Hurley; Declan Cusack, Duncan Williams; Julien Brugnaut, Mike Sherry, Stephen Archer, Ian Nagle, Dave Foley, Billy Holland, Niall Ronan, James Coughlan (capt). It seems very strange to me that Munster would play the l...

Re: Munster thread 2009/10

My understanding is that the IRFU would normally pay up to somewhere around 100k and 120k for an oversea's players contract and any difference would be paid by the province. As Rory Best was on a central contract his wages would not have been included in the Ulster budget anyway and therefore Ulster...

Re: Jennings' citing & Eye-diving.......

Grow up. Jennings made contact with the eye area - he got caught and got a ban in line with similar ERC bans. (and now he's off to Oz like the rest of the convicts). They should write a song about that over in Rathfarnham and Munster could adopt it as their anthem. nah the Leinster fans would just ...

Re: Jennings' citing & Eye-diving.......

Thornley's article is a bit of a cop-out imo. Quite correctly he states that the citing and ban would never have happened if Kennedy had not eye-dived but then he appears to absolve Kennedy of guilt and places it all with the ERC. London Irish and Kennedy could both have come to Jenning's assistanc...
