Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
What's the point of the irfu investing money in a urc franchise based in another country vs a 5th province based in Ireland? Is it attracting young English born players into a feeder system for team ireland? Is it to give Irish expats games to watch? I just don't see the point. It the premiership wa...

Re: Neutral Stadium
We don't need to say that you can't have a home sf in all circumstances. Just say the sf stadia cannot be the same as the final. If the final was in cardiff let's say, I don't think there would be any where near as much moaning if we were in the aviva for r16, qf, sf only. Sent from my SM-A528B usin...

Re: Leinster V Toulouse Semi Final
We also have to consider the number of knockout games we have in a row. I've already spent more than my season ticket on the ko games.

Re: RDS redevelopment
I remember an old proposal where the redevelopment was all 4 sides. But not just rectangles like Ravenhill, the 4 corners were built up for boxes, studios, etc. But these provided the support for a single oval roof over everybody. The North and south stand could be removed and the roof would still b...

Re: Leinster Squad 22-23
Are we not talking about 2 different things. 1) the role the AIL plays along with the sub academy, and academy to bring young players along to the point that they get signed on long term provincial contracts. 2) the role required to provide players who are on long term contracts to get sufficient ex...

Re: Emerging Ireland to tour SA
Andrew Smith looked like he had come on a lot during the recent Sevens coverage. He could be a beneficiary of the small game - like Aaron Sexton, Jimmy O'B & Hugo K. Still lots of moaning about this Tour, but Provinces have never fielded such strong, experienced teams in Rd 3 & 4 of any pre...

You lost me at "I think". I'm pretty are that a half dozen means six and discount means cheaper, but after that I'm right there with you brother Ok. Sorry about that. Let me explain my thought process more. A number of sources are suggesting that the Premiership will force Worchester to s...

Re: Emerging Ireland to tour SA
The tour will be seen as a good idea if we win a quarter final, if we don't it won't be. If we win a quarter final it will be as much to do with me wearing my lucky underpants that morning as it will this tour. It has the look of something cobbled together out of the ashes of the rumoured provincia...

Re: Leinster v Treviso Fri 23rd 7.35 TG4
One of the biggest problems professional rugby in England faces, is that the majority of their fan base is aged between 55 and 80. Whilst Philo and Lizzy might be gods to some of us, to a lot of people, especially those under the age of 25, he's just the guy in the Jimi Hendrix statue Teenagers are...

Bit harsh on the SA teams. They might not be the strongest but 2 of them date back to the 1800s.allezlesverres wrote:How much is eg Nick Timoney going to learn playing against cobbled together SA teams versus how much would he learn playing against VDF and Doris?

Re: Grahamunster - Graham Rowntree's Munster 2022/2023
I think the €250k incorporates income from bars, food etc. which is intimated in your link, as the figure I’ve heard is closer to €160k for the rent with the GAA expecting in the region of €200k. You are correct on the repayment schedule, which is very attractive, but again, afaik Munster are indeb...

Re: Grahamunster - Graham Rowntree's Munster 2022/2023
Not all the negativity has been directed at Munster. A poster earlier asked why Leinster was never afforded these opportunities, almost to say that it another IRFU led evil conspiracy to hold Leinster back. So some of the replies are attempting to explain why Leinster and other provinces/clubs don't...

Is it not the case that you have to pay the international side to turn up? So financially its tough to make it worth while even before you take into account renting a stadium.

Re: Steve Thompson not very well at all
Personally (and I'd say I'm in a huge minority on this), I would have removed cisgender classifications from the sport and classified it on the basis of whether a player has or hasn't undergone androgen effected puberty. I am largely in agreement with the decision but I dont think this will have pu...

So in the spirit of the new media norm of not referencing the sex of the sports team they're reporting on, could the OP remove the reference to women from the thread title? I was going to post something sarcastic, but I genuinely want to know what the point of this change is. I assume its to do wit...
