Re: Bank of Ireland Sponsorship

At the risk of being crude.....HOW MUCH? Nobody knows whether there was ever a figure put on it because Bank contribute bodies and above and below the line assistance to the Domestic and Pro game. However, based on a round figure estimate of Leinster income at something north of €15m - with possibl...

Renewed and improved and that's even with Leinster and 'Tarf fanatic Boucher departed. Well done to Mick Dawson and Billy Murphy for getting that across the line.

Pat Geraghty RIP

Pat was the Leinster PRO in the early days of professional rugby before he moved on to do the same job with Munster. The North Kildare man was a superb professional and handled both jobs with an expertise borne out of his own deep rugby knowledge. Pat understood what fans wanted, what players and co...

Much more likely to be an out-dated airline policy that cabin crew have to enforce than a crew member being over-zealous. Regardless, if you won't comply with a reasonable request from cabin crew (and putting your laptop away for 10-15 minutes certainly is reasonable) than you deserve to get turfed...

Re: 2017 -2018 Champions Cup Seeding

Over the next two weekends the runaway leaders of the Top 14 take on the two teams anchored at present to the relegation spots in the French league. Brive are the next victims to the slaughter in Montpelier where they will seek their first competition points of the season. The following week, Vern C...

Re: 2017 -2018 Champions Cup Seeding

Montpelier continue on their unbeaten run with another big home victory, this time against Toulon who could have gone top with a win. Finishing 43-20 with a bonus point win they are now already 5 point leaders in the Top 14. Leinster top Conference 2. Exeter top the Premiership. Montpelier top the F...

Re: Pro 14 - General Thread

So the first Conor O'Shea dividend - presented by shrewd Kiwi and former Canadian Coach Kieran Crowley. A wily operator who knows how to develop a pack and grab a victory. Michael Bradley's Zebre will follow shortly. Brads wouldn't have taken this post without the expectation that he could deliver i...

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.

On this evening's performances this thread should certainly tip the hat to three former Leinster Academy players - John Cooney (Ulster), Tadgh Beirne (Llanelli) and Ian McKinley (Treviso). Great performances for all three and Beirne, in particular will have done his prospects of wearing a green jers...

Re: Ulster 2017 - 2018

The impact of Gibbes' coaching very evident across the pack with all their forwards looking better players. Two hallmarks of his stamp were particularly evident: a) Players must cherish possession and fight to retain it; and b) Presentation of ball to scrum half is responsibility of player in posses...

Re: Ulster 2017 - 2018

Ulster's best half of rugby in this calendar year. Eddie O'S analysis at H-T on the money. They need more points for all the pressure. Cooney excellent and partnership with Leiefanu looks very assured.

What an inane comment, or maybe just pure bias. Based on his performances this season he is certainly worth starting.

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.

Mike Ross is playing again as player/scrum coach for Malahide. Got to feel a tad sorry for whoever comes up against him in the scrums! I'm just glad he couldnt resist coaching rather he was coaching young TH's in Leinster.. starting with Porter Don't know how this ended up here but anyway, Rossie w...

Re: Ireland Under 20 2017

Surely even in your guise as the forums department of cynicism, understand the 7s attention as an investment in the corporate target of 2023? I think that pretending to be good little corporate citizens within world rugby in the runup to 2023 is the only purpose that sevens rugby serves in Ireland ...

Re: September 2017 Doubleheader in South Africa

Before we start talking about flying in replacements for the club captain, we should maybe hope the matter gets resolved. It seems insane that nobody would have thought about checking this. It also seems insane that Kiwis do need a visa to enter South Africa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_polic...

Re: September 2017 Doubleheader in South Africa

I'd say it's unlikely Larmour will start at 15 with Reid back and Joey/Isa there. I'd be playing our better, heavier pack and McGrath for the second game, as we'll need to dominate the Cheetahs up front and control the pace of the game. (That means no Carbery or JGP please!) Bit surprised at that v...

Re: Pro 14 - General Thread

The split of the teams is now very evident among all the teams in the League. Six teams unbeaten (four in our Conference) and six teams without a win after two games. Nothing yet to suggest the quality of the League has improved at all and the majority of commentators now referring to the SA teams n...

It it systemicallly impossible to play a high tempo, off-loading, game unless both half-backs are excellent fast passers. Discuss.

Re: Jack Conan - The most talented young No.8 in Keltia

Conan was truly awesome against Cardiff. Jamie must now get himself into his boots and rev up the engine and see what the appetite is like. Leo has to give him game time and then comes the crunch. Selection against Glasgow and Montpellier and then the Autumn International with Jamie, Stander, PO'M, ...
