Re: Change to NIQs
The success rate for project players isn't good. None have represented the Irish team yet, most didn't stick around. Strauss might change that, Wilkinson might get there first. I think most of the time it's a way of getting depth in a problem area rather than a serious look at development. Yeah I'd...

Re: Chris Ashton to Sarries
Ashton's scoring record is very impressive and he's a serious finisher with an eye for the try line. The way the English game is played leads to wingers getting a lot of trys if they have the gas. There isn't any shortage of wingers who know how to slide over in the corner. There have been plenty of...

Re: Mark Flanagan
There's been very little hype about Flanagan. I remember a few questions being asked but no one having a lot specific to say about him during reasonably lengthy discussions about lock being a problem position. He's just been totally under the radar. The main mention I can recall of him was when he w...

Re: The Green 13 thread
By the time Reddan or Boss have to retire, other prospects may have emerged. Right now It's a fair bet than neither Rog or Sexton want Murray at SH (For Ireland). I'm not sure about that at all. ROG seems to like playing with someone who's not Reddan and they generally haven't started matches toget...

Re: Munster Thread 2011-2012
I suppose the thing is That when Toner plays with Kev (and he has several times) there is 6" in the difference. The other players you mention would probably only see a 3" difference or so. Anyway..... Will we give this thread back to Munster? Depends... Do they have a match this weekend? ...

Re: Academy 2011/12
We're also going to see a lot of cases of talented young backrows playing their early senior games at 7 and then moving because of the way they're still bulking up. It's hard to judge at 21 where some (not all) of these guys will end up.

That one can be traced back to Munster#1 and I played no part in it this time.Apocrypha wrote:Now, how did a thread about non attendance records at Leinster home games end up being about an ineffective, 10ft tall beanpole?

Re: The Green 13 thread
No one has done enough at the moment to shift Earls, so he'll get a chance. I feel for Cave though, he might well be a better 13 at the moment.
Earls has been working on some of the limitations to his game and his strengths are good at the moment.

Re: Cardiff V Leinster
Absolutely, but also pause for a moment and think about what we're talking about. We're talking about a hooker who was notably fast but somewhat weak in his ball handling at the start of the season, and we're holding him to the same standard as we would a seasoned winger in the same position from a ...

Re: Academy 2011/12
We already have three of them in O'Brien, Ruddock and Ryan. One more won't hurt! We could play them left and right. The academy also has Coghlan and Gilsenan who might come through the ranks quickly. If we count the Ospreys game, there are 5 Leinster fixtures that will be affected by the 6N and the...

Re: Academy 2011/12
Murphy has looked great at underage level but he reminds me of what Gatland said about Andy Ward: he's the worlds best number six and a half IMO he needs to try and specialise in/target one position, probably openside 6 1/2 is good though. We have others who can pack down at either side of the scru...

Re: Academy 2011/12
There was some good physicality from Jordi Murphy at the weekend. I'd say he's ready for senior squad and more regular gametime.

Re: Cardiff V Leinster
Reddan was superb. Early in the second half we were in their territory thanks to a dropped restart and pushing for a try. Reddan unleashed a backhand offload of beauty to Cronin - only for Cronin to try something equally Hollywood and passed to a Cardiff player. we really let them off there and tha...

Nice to see some progression from the lad. In fairness though, I missed the lineups when I was watching live and didn't notice him out there for a while. He grew into the game and played well, but there's still a fair bit to go.

Re: Prospects for Wolfhounds Squad
The Wolfhounds squad is one match. It's a rare opportunity to try out combinations and to give players gametime together with non-provincial partners. It's also the 2nd choice squad, so if there's an injury it should in theory come from the Wolfhounds (in theory anyway). It'd be a waste to give time...

Re: Cardiff V Leinster
I will concede that the ref didn't do us any favours, he was blowing us off the park so much I thought he would have been better suited to Clapham Common. Regardless of the ref I feel we didn't put in a great shift. We scored the two tries in the first ten mins, the second one being a quite soft on...
