Re: 2011/12 HEC Pools
Looking forwards to seeing BOD finally play at Firhill, maybe. Feckin stinker of a group for our PoV though. Second year in a row we have drawn the defending champs :( How many fans do you think you lot will bring over to Glasgow? TBH, the thought of a few thousand of you coming across and creating...

Re: WTF is going on in Scotland????
Anyway, it might all be a pointless discussion. Rumours are the new CEO of Rangers is possibly going to be a certain Gordon McKie. The club will be dead within 5 years!
(Thank f*ck for that though - I was convinced Scottish Rugby was going to be a thing of the past under his helmship)

Re: WTF is going on in Scotland????
I met a few Aberdeen fans years back in Galway, good lads but had some very interesting things to say about their support. I remember a discussion about 'Stirling Hun Hunters' ? and their hooligan element. At one point, Aberdeen were notorious for their casuals - but that was mainly during the '80'...

Re: WTF is going on in Scotland????
Baws - it's because he is an arsehole. Neither his religion nor his nationality come into it. Made me chuckle that. Has nothing to do with his background   puh-leease I know a few people that have met him in the west end, and say the guy just acts like a tw@t. Infact, one Aberdeen fan's (...

Re: Do footballers want to play for their country???
So you lot have this problem aswell? I thought this was an entirely Scottish probelm (that strangley disappears once a year in our now annual game versus the World Champions). Feck sake, one of ours has pulled out of our squad to play for some pishy english club in the final of some cr@p club compet...

Re: WTF is going on in Scotland????
He's a Catholic from Norn Iron in charge of the Queen's Celtic. That's probably enough for some nutters. Baws - it's because he is an arsehole. Neither his religion nor his nationality come into it. This whole season, he has blamed everybody and everything for Celtic defeats except himself or his p...

Thank You Leinster
Thats the most enjoyable 40 minutes of Rugby I have seen in a long time!
Truly worthy Champions, and you had to do it the hard way. Don't think Northampton would have got near the final the draw you had!
Oh, and thanks for getting an eleventh scot a winners medal

Re: Leinster v Glasgow
Nice to put up that score. Toulouse were cr@p though. Yes, what a mistake to make and I thought a bit unfair on Glasgow to be welcomed back onto the pitch with the wrong name. In fairness, it's an easy mistake to make ;) There is a set of pictures of the Glasgow squad training in Toulouse shirts, n...

Re: Leinster v Glasgow
Don't know why I watched that - almost wiped the smile I have had all afternoon off my face! (was kinda thinking it wouldn't be that big a shock compared to what has happened in Scotland in the last 24 hrs, I suppose) Good luck in the semi-finals and hopefully the final aswell. An ofcourse in the HC...

Re: Heineken Cup Semi Final - Is it fair?
Interestingly the Guardian's match report of the Leinster game on Sunday said our match would force the ERC to look at the possibility of neutral semi finals. As supporters we should take it as a compliment but I thought it was a poor way to start the article and an unfair reflection of Leinster's ...

Re: Leinster v Glasgow
There are several excellent young players coming through from various Scotland Premier 1 teams but the question is - will they continue to develop in Scotland or will they be lost to big money teams? An example is Mark Bennet from Ayr who is contracted to Glasgow as an elite development player but ...

Re: Irl v NZ
Speaking as someone who endured the train-wreck that was the Scotland game on saturday, and having only seen Ireland v South Africa since the last match at croker (sorry, had to get a mention in somehow ;) ), I would suggest that: If you have the same masochist tendancies that are required to follow...

Re: A question for you all.
I think Lineen has a point but has to thread carefully. The assistant referees could have just made mistakes, and we've seen how often that can happen with foul play. I't happens regularly - particularly in wales, but I don't think the irish are imune to it either - but not normally such high-profi...

A question for you all.
Looking for a relativly independant view on the above question. I'm not going to say anything about my opinions on the matter in this post because I don't want to influence anyones opinion, but I will say this question has come about because of Sean Lineens comments about the touch judges in Newport...

Re: Ospreys points deduction for ML suspended
magenrs are a joke, they cant change their mind like this, say leinster come 5 3 point behind ospreys then could leinster ot any other team apeal this decision. No - Neither Glasgow nor Ulster (for whom the original decision had massive implications - the former in determining play-off fixtures, th...

Re: Glasgow v Leinster Thread ***All Posts Here***
I forgot the 4th (and possibly most important) point for the low crowd - the fact nearly all media output about Glasgow has been about how screwed we are this season (It's a Scottish national trait, you know!) - hopefully the way the boys fought back last night will prove that to be b*%&!cks.
As for the game - I was really fearing the worst just after half-time, with that excellent rolling maul in the 41st minute, but TBH after that Glasgow looked an entirely different side and were far more in control (took another 15 minutes before I believed we could actually win the game, mind!). Our set piece looked bad though - not sure wether the Leinster scrum was good, or just made to look good by us - but of the starting pack, 3 were first choice last season (Welsh, Low and Gray), and Jon Welsh is nowhere near fit enough yet (he only made his return from injury last week).
Our line-out was even worse than our scrum in the second half (again, hopefully due to un-familiarity - otherwise we are in for a long season), which makes it even more surprising we were comfortable for most of the second half!
Jamie Heaslip is lucky he went off when he did - the entire game he was offside (I know he's a backrow and thats what they do - but if you see them doing it then they aren't doing it well enough ), and the referee started noticing this in the second half. Can't imagine he was far from getting a yellow..
What was wagga thinking at that last line-out (I think it was him anyway)? did he really think he could get away ripping Richie Gray out of the air? I'm sure we would probably have given you the ball back soon enough anyway, so why give us the chance for 3 points?
Even when in total control in the first half I wasn't atall impressed by Leinster - both tries were more to di with Glasgow making a mess of things than any great play by Leinster. It was blatantly obvious to anyone in the stand the lineout was going straight to Heaslip (for those of us who watch Glasgow regularly, even before it was thrown) for the first try, and why nobody fell on the ball to prevent the second is a mystery... Better teams (even our first team) would be far less likely to be so generous.
Tim Hayes was awful. Think he ruled out perfectly good tries for both teams (I was cursing him for being biased last night, but having watched the game again the Leinster try he chalked off looks like the pass was flat) and missed countless other things (Heaslip for the entire first half, for example). Mind you, atleast the Scottish TJ's have finally realised they ARE allowed to call things against the opposition as well as Glasgow - not before time!
And on the subject of crowd numbers - it's the quality that matters, not the quantity. I am fairly sure there aren't many sets of fans who can make more noise (for the number of people present) than ours. 100 of us outsang 7,000 Ospreys fans in the play-off last year for the whole game

Re: Glasgow v Leinster Thread ***All Posts Here***
total joke that glasgow can only muster 2700 attendance and even more unbelievable that they triumphantly announced it over the tannoy. Mock our attendances all you like - but it's so long ago Leinster were getting similar crowds. And bear in mind: Rugby is ignored by the media in Scotland (althoug...

Re: Aironi Rugby
Am really looking forward to Treviso in a couple of weeks 8) Given the club is made up of a number of franchises do they not have a couple of grounds where it could be played, has the venue been confirmed yet? Viadana have something like a 54% share of the new franchise - hence they are getting nea...
