Re: Moving on - Castres v Leinster 12/12

Lack of match practise and neither of them were exactly setting the place on fire before they got injured. Felipe is coming towards the end of his career, even his penalty kicking was less than perfect or even satisfactory. Nace is an unproven quantity in the Leinster context. Know your limitations...

Re: Moving on - Castres v Leinster 12/12

Why is it a big gamble picking Nacewa or Contepomi? And talk of bonus points in the away match has always been very quiet - I'd take a one point win, especially when you consider our injury troubles. Lack of match practise and neither of them were exactly setting the place on fire before they got i...

Re: Moving on - Castres v Leinster 12/12

Leinster's performance last Saturday was typical and came as no surprise. When we're cast iron certainties we usual come up short. Remember Bourgoin a few years ago - Stuffed them in LR - scored more than 70 points and then what? lost in Bourgoin. The silver lining, however, just like Edinburgh away...

Re: Ronan O'gara replacement

Take a look at the whole game. It was the only time they got meaningful change out of him and you should've noticed that it was caused primarily by him drifting too far in anticipation of Brock spreading it rather than just poor tackling which you imply by suggesting they should focus on the 10 cha...

Re: Leinster 33 Castre 3

I really didnt think johnny had a bad game. Agree - it was a general handling malaise, that made us look so bad. Whitaker was the real culprit - No matter how fast he got the ball, he just took forever to do anything with it. I wouldn't risk Dr Phil, straight into next weeks game. Go with what we h...

Re: Munster Thread

O'Brien well ahead of Ronan, on points, in the battle of the sevens.
Ronan may have a stamina issue - He faded very badly today against Clerment.

Re: Ronan O'gara replacement

Another nasty missed tackle on the Clement OH James, led to the game breaking try.
Is time running out for the Maestro.
Next week could tell a tale, Route 10 will be their best chance of causing an upset.

Re: Leinster 33 Castre 3

Why do our coaching team sit peering into the sun.
Surely, somebody in our brains trust has the gumption to come Grandstand side and get a proper view of what's going on.
Then maybe the half time talk might have been different.

Re: Ireland Team World Cup 2011

Just interested Tones, what's the biggest problem with ROG being associated with pride and passion? Like I don't necessarily relate either to on field performance because at the end of the day, it's not going cover up deficiencies in your game or improve your form. That's why I don't have a problem...

Re: McFadden pressure group?

McFadden is not or never will be a 10. He doesn't have the necessary distribution skills and his strengths are far better utilised by him running onto the ball at pace and getting over/breaking the game-line. That is the type of player he is and always will be. He's a centre, always has been and al...

Re: McFadden pressure group?

Lads! Get it together! One appearance and you are suggesting he change from the position he's played for his entire rugby playing life. He might have showed a sure set of hands the other day but that does not make him an out half. He's in the explosive line breaker mould. He's an excellent centre l...

Re: McFadden pressure group?

I wouldn't mind seeing him get a couple of games at out-half. He's a great tackler, has an excellent pass and has good pace too. He also has the potential to become and international class goal-kicker - he has the technique, he just needs experience. Unfortunately, as the other guys come back from ...

Re: Leinster name squad for Castres

Wow, must be the smallest squad he's ever named. We can get a decent first team out but not really a huge amount of impact from the bech imo. McFadden can feel a little hard done by. I'd go for something like: 15. Girve 14. Horgan 13. Fitz 12. BOD 11. Kearney 10. Sexton 9. Whitaker 8. Heaslip 7. Je...

Re: The latest on the economy etc.

Another question - who the hell estimates the tax receipts? Bad enough that they grossly miscalculated earlier this year but then they managed to be out by a further €2bn for this quarter is staggering! They always understated estimated tax receipts in previous years, knowing that the November self...

Re: Will BOD make it?

Light talk yesterday of O'Driscoll's chances of making it to the next world cup. He himself stated that you can never hope to look that far around the corner, Especially in a physical sport like rugby. My own feelings are that I don't think he will. He's had a tough time over the last year revealin...

The latest on the economy etc.

Honestly haven't a clue - (I mean me, not the government, just to clear that up for you) But here's what I think is going on. 1. A major world wide recession is in progress. (is that an oxymoron - is recession progress?) 2. The government have been economic with truth. 3. The banks are hoarding mone...
