Re: Munster Thread 2010/2011
Zebo looks like a live prospect alright – pace, confidence and strength. An impressive showing from him, moreso given that Munster produce very, very few threequarters. Another very assured game from Paul Warwick, he'll be very much missed when he leaves at the end of the season. Dougie Howlett a cl...

Re: What about playing Sexton at 1st Centre
The people giving the penalties are the problem, not Sexton. Fix the problem Deccie, fix the problem and drop DOC and Leamy and Best. O'Callaghan didn't give away any penalties against Scotland. On the other hand, it was his least effective performance of the campaign so far [he had put in two of h...

Re: IRELAND's game plan.
I was just about to post about it - I pretty much agree with all of it, I think it is an excellent, excellent article. The difference between the analysis above the fold from Williams and the interview/match-preview/press release below from Dexy's is striking. As Williams says, the fourth estate in ...

Hugonaut will be happy with a certain selection for the Dragons game: Munster: J Murphy; D Howlett, L Mafi, P Warwick, S Zebo; D Cusack, C Murray; M Horan, D Fogarty, S Archer; I Nagle, M O’Driscoll capt; D Ryan, J Coughlan, D Leamy. I have no beef against Downey, I just don't particularly rate him. The way he's talked about you'd swear we were missing out on Yannick Jauzion. He's a 30 year old [or will be in a month] who has played bits and bobs for Leinster and Munster and been let go by both, a couple of seasons for Calvisano...

Re: What about playing Sexton at 1st Centre
We conceded most of our penalties when we didn't have the ball. Leamy @ 69:20 [side entry] - Scotland possession [1] Leamy @ 65:10 [handling in the ruck] - Scotland possession [2] Heaslip @ 56:30 [handling the ball on the ground] - Scotland possession [3] Best @ 49:55 [going to deck at the ruck] - ...

Re: Scotland v Ireland
I dont think its the players for the most part - its the coaches - they set the game plan and the style of play, and it does not play to the strengths of the players at all. Collectively the squad has huge potential - and you only have to look at how those players play for their respective province...

Re: What about playing Sexton at 1st Centre
Given Darcys poor form why dont Ireland follow Australia (Giteau and Larkham) and New Zealands(carter and Spencer/Merthens) example and groom sexton in midfield beside O Gara at 1st Centre. Hes a good tackler, running threath, better hands than Darce. Could be a mike catt kind of player, while bein...

Re: IRELAND's game plan.
True. I suppose I could have put that better. I wasnt advocating a run at all costs game, but if you get quick ball, pretty much anywhere on the pitch you should be happy to attack with it in hand. Obviously you have to keep defenses honest, wingers thinking and turn them round every now and then w...

Re: Dissension in the dressing room?
For all the criticism of D'Arcy and BO'D from the Munster mafia, how much ball did RO'G actually ship out to them yesterday. The sum of f*ck all is the reality, you don't get much chance to shine in the centres when all you're doing is hitting rucks and chasing kicks... Not just ROG's idea, ...

Re: Madigan or McKinley
McKinley for me. I've been hugely impressed by his outings to date. Mads is a very, very good prospect as well, a beautiful passer of the ball who gets his backline purring. Really tight spirals, great weight, out in front of the man to lead him around the marker or get him coming on to it at full p...

Kidney infuriates me. He says "we compete at the breakdown and we make no apologies for it". The evidence it isn't working is staring him in the face. His reaction? " the ref last game admitted he gOt a few wrong and I think today there were a few call that went against us. So we'll ...

Re: Scotland v Ireland
Positives: - Individually I wouldn't find too many faults, a lot of players had really good games. - Our back row was excellent. SOB and Wallace were simply immense. Jamie was outstanding too in the first half although I thought he faded a bit as the game went on, understandable given his lack of g...

Re: Scotland v Ireland
ROG had a really good game, a well-deserved man of the match. The fawning over everything he did – everything! – was a bit much, but he's a big name, and his getting picked again was a big story in the press. Fair play to Kidney, it worked out pretty well. The selection of Reddan worked out well to ...

Didn't think the ref had that bad a game by any means, although I had given my season ticket to a mate and was watching with a seriously limited view! I'm always a good bit easier on the team when I'm at the game rather than when I'm watching it on the box, and easier again when there's a high numbe...

"[O'Gara's] defence is not the issue it was once portrayed to be." I actually can't get over that sentence. So O'Gara's p¡ss-poor tackling was never actually p¡ss-poor, it was only "portrayed" as such? While in reality he was pulling up stumps whenever lads ran at him? And now i...
