Re: Connacht 2023/24
by ronk Hawkshaw has 8 starts at 13 this season. And not exactly lit up the world either. I think they are trying to shoehorn him into a position that isn't his best one. Don't know why they don't give him a go at ten. Couldn't do worse than Carty or Hanrahan. Agreed. I thought he was great at 12 l...

Re: Rumour Mill
Strong rumour that Jack is heading that way. They still need an Alpha 10. Left field I know, but I wonder would Jack Carty be on Ulster's radar at all? he is heavily involved with family business, id say he will retire before playing elsewhere. And has another year on his contract at Connacht.

Re: Connacht 2023/24
And I hope McElroy will be retained. He's been good. Dylan Tierney Martin has been out for several months with a neck injury on which there appears to no clarity son his return so far. McElroy has played most minutes for us at 2 this season, after being a last minute signing which suggested that the...

Re: Connacht 2023/24
Is Lasisi headed to Connacht and replacing ward ? I don't think Ward needs replacing, he's been in the academy for 4 years without playing a minute. I hadn't heard so much as a whisper about Lasisi until I speculated on another forum that reconverting him to loosehead may be a good option for us, g...

Re: Rumour Mill
I don't think Thornbury is at a level where he'd be a big contributor for Leinster - I like him as a player, and at his best he absolutely could have been, but that's about 2 years ago at this point. I've seen him fail to shine at AIL level numerous times this season for Blackrock. He justifiably i...

Re: Rumour Mill
There was a suggestion on a podcast - which I think is a good one - that Leinster sign *Thornbury from Connacht*. His contract is up at the EOTS and he's a Leinster man. At his best, all be it a few seasons ago before being hampered by injury, he was pushing for consideration in Irish squads. His i...

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24
What J’s game was this? That’s embarrassing 🤦♂️ I assumed this was a reference to the game between Michael's and Mary's in November. Among others, you yourself reported that there had been a bizarre incident with a parent! :) Incorrect. Not me. Apologies, my error: https://www.leinsterfans.com/for...

Good piece @Hugo. Exactly the sort of measured comment needed to combat this "fishing" type of journalism, which because of the underlying insinuations, teachers or Schools Coaches can't respond to, but somebody should. Hope the lads on OTB read it carefully. I wonder if the dad who reach...

I well remember the original SPUC shower. Wasn't that Barrett clown of the National Party involved? He was PRO for Youth Defense - who now deny that he was either PRO or a member of Youth Defense. It takes something special for the likes of Youth Defense to be embarrassed by you That's interesting ...

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24
Heard very good things about Noah Byrne. Is he involved in the leinster set up and is he big enough to go up the levels? He's on the Ireland U18 Schools Squad. I can't comment on his ability to' go up the levels' that but he has a GAA background with Kilmacud Crokes/Dublin Minors, so he'll have to ...

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24
This came up before but in terms of the favourites for the SCT I think it's now as follows: Blackrock Gonzaga Newbridge St Michaels Terenure The rest are well behind this group in my opinion. Gonzaga have beaten most of big guns this season (including Blackrock, Newbridge in the league final, St Mi...

Re: Rumour Mill
Well it was reported in 2009 that he put 4M into the Thomond redevelopment: https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-20083246.html The only time JP McManus would give money to rugby is to be allowed to raize thomond and use anything salvaged in the Gaelic Grounds. He's a fan of going on rugby trips, ...
