Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Rumour was that Knox and Wig fell out. Yes. Mega bust up with Pom by all accounts. But seems to all stem from wig unwilling to get Poms contract sorted. Basically he saw this contract season as his one chance to properly sort some issues in terms of strength. And saw Pom while a super player as som...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Totally agree lads. We are poor to blood props in particular. Very poor. Size tends to be the biggest limiter for a lot of these guys. Marty Moore being the best example he probably played the best rugby of his career at that age. Such an important position. Think we saw Knox and salanoa as the nex...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

A few thoughts. Firstly I pop in here as it tend to be a different viewpoint. Munster aren’t actually doing too badly at all. We have our strengths and weaknesses. One of the biggest big bears I often have is the comparison business of one province v another. Each have their one unique set of challe...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

:green clap: Leaving Ahern stationed out on the wing was a waste. He wasn’t in the game in the second half and Munster were struggling in the tight collisions and protecting their own ball. It’s not a surprise to the opposition defence when he gets the ball in a wide channel when he’s waiting out th...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Munster’s scrum and maul etc are badly badly missing Jean kleyn. I’ve seen John Ryan who’s typically an excellent technical th prop get bested too many time not to suggest a link. Losing Edogbo isn’t helping here either. Ahern is similiar to beirne and Baird in that much of what he adds around the f...

Munster’s recent injury update was fun. Fineen and Jager recovering post knee “minor procedures “
Ruadhan Quinn out with a broken thumb.

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Hurley being retained is interesting. He’s fine without being spectacular. I think there is a season there to prove he can be a pro. By all accounts we’ve approached a few guys to add to the mix. They are being decent with Hurley. He has spent the guts of a season injured and has probably signed on...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Very surprised the best Billy Burns could do was a 1-year deal. Made this point on another forum. I think it may suit everyone. Burns will have options in England and will be English qualified (clubs need 15 per squad now or something like that ….moloney got a tidy contract based that ). He was str...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

He can't be a project if he gets capped for SA. Nucifora would cancel that for any other province in a heartbeat. Munster probably have a little bit less leverage than usual after O'Mahony. Nothing to do with being a project. Rumoured chap is johann grobelaar of the bulls. He’d be 31 by the time th...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

If I was to make an educated guess I suspect the fact that the rumoured addition was called up to camp Rassie and likely to be away a lot meant they either pulled the deal or are renegotiating the shekels and felt Buckley was handy to cover that time he will be away. Buckley is more than capable aro...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

A move for either would be a lot more enticing if Pom was off. Thats true. Either Dillane or Deegan would probably see themselves as the POM replacement at 6 if they went to Munster. I can't see Deegan moving to be a backup. Being a backup at home is one thing but moving to be a backup? Thats diffe...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

I’d obviously prefer younger lads get the minutes nairaic. But Quins have a decent front row out so I suppose as developing hookers in Clarke or Buckley having an experienced th beside them is palatable. As an interesting aside to the comments re how much of pom Murray’s deals are munster or head of...

John Ryan starts, Stephen Archer on the bench.

Jaysis. Wept.
Could have tolerated one of them playing with Clarke Buckley for experience but ffs not both

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Irfu topping up contracts of Murray and Pom is probably the win we’d have hoped for. Will be interesting to see how Pom staying affects some of the rumoured signings. Dillane deegan and sokora all apparently approached…I suspected one may sign now doubtful. Burns seems to be signed. Unspectacular bu...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Daly would be an interesting one. If that’s so then it’s to provide a kicker at 12 on the days that butler and presumably burns are playing. Would perhaps mean Rory scannell wouldn’t be renewed a year after. My thoughts on centres is we may have a retention issue there in the longer term. Frisch is ...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Jod is an excellent player to have around though. Covers 6/7/8 bar this season has had a decent injury profile. Captain regularly when internationals away. Jos is a decent player but the injury profile is very poor. He’s never really been fit for the times when he would get the games to push on. Ult...
