Re: RFU reviewing “Swing Low”

At least the wolfhound is Irish. Leinster might have to consider Leo's position. Leo the Lion that is. Since a Lion is not an indigenous species of the Leinster area we could be accused of cultural appropriation. Just sayin. True. But if Barry Cunliffe, Bob Quinn and others are correct, that the or...

Re: RFU reviewing “Swing Low”

What have white anglo saxon protestants ever done wrong? You spake, the RFU heard! https://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/2021/0511/1220982-rfu-decides-to-ditch-saxons-in-interests-of-diversity/ I’m a bit surprised by this one to be honest. Unlike Swing Low, I hadn’t heard any complaints about it. Good thi...

Re: Leinster Squad 21-22

I watched the Bulls vs Stormers game there at the weekend, and my biggest takeaway was that the Michael Alaalatoa signing was incredibly wise. The Stormers front row was Frans Malherbe, Bongi Mbonambi & Steven Kitshoff. They each range from 17.5 to 20 stone. All 30 year old veterans, capped by Sout...

Re: Leinster v. Ulster, Rainbow Cup, Fri 14 May, 20.15hrs

Would we sign a joker? Cathal Marsh back from the US? Interesting thought for next year. I know he's up at Ulster but Madigan covers 10,12 and 15..... Is he out of favour up there - last game was 15 minutes off bench against Quins on April 4th. Haven't seen any mention of an injury! Was wondering t...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

Here's the OTB interview with RO'G from Friday, where he goes back over the game and answers some questions about his Examiner article. A couple of points standout: 1. he finds the reaction to the Leinster loss among Irish rugby punditry as overblown as the expectation, that we were going to trounce...

Re: Connacht v Leinster Rainbow Cup Sat 8/5 19.35

Currently watching the Stormers vs the Bulls. Boks all over the place, knocking lumps out of each other: Stepp du Toit, Vermeulen, Kitzof, Steyn, Hindricks, Kriel etc. etc. Man, the Pro 16 is gonna be so cool!!!!!

p.s. They're playing some lovely running, offloading rugby too!!!!

No post in 24 hours on this topic ??... There seems to be a distinct lack of interest all round I’m afraid. Hope the team are not in same mindset.
Still suffering the hangover from La Rochelle. Soon as the action starts i nGaillimh I should be back up to speed again! COYBIB!!!!

Re: Connacht v Leinster Rainbow Cup Sat 8/5 19.35

Match Preview Well that was grimly familiar. Once again this Leinster team failed to deliver when they came up against a bigger pack which bullied them off the park. They started brightly enough and wasted a couple of decent chances in the first half that could have had them further ahead. But whil...

RO'G's take on the whole episode - from today's Examiner: Ronan O'Gara: Sage advice from a Kerryman - Walk easy when the jug is full I’ve been reminding myself of a sage piece of Kerry advice I received not so long ago. Walk easy when the jug is full. Thu, 06 May, 2021 - 20:55 In ensuring no-one aro...

Flash Gordon: "Exactly. Every elite player in Britain and Ireland will regard this as a career pinacle. People might not care individually but the players and coaches see it differently. Regarding it as a "makey uppy" team is ridiculous." That may well be so. Personally, I follow the Lions tours in ...

Re: A whiff of Cordite

The RTÉ Rugby Podcast this week is good, with Donal Lenihan and Birch analysing calmly and fairly what went wrong for Leinster in La Rochelle and debating where the provinces - the Eastern one particularly - go from here. Hugh Cahill is a total waste of space, though. Listening to him you'd think we...
