Re: Rainbow Cup Rd 1: Saturday, 24 April: Leinster v Munster – KO 7.35pm, RDS Arena

Delighted Tommy O’Brien is fully fit again. He sustained that ankle injury against Ospreys on November 8 so he’s been out for 5 months. He was one of our best players before he got injured. Looks a terrific player and can do a job on the wing if required. think Tommy has a huge future on the wing f...

JVDF keeps up his form..
He certainly does. I think he was unlucky to miss out on Lions selection for the last tour as he was injured if memory serves, his form had been outstanding. He's a superb professional, his attitude and work rate are second to none.

Re: Leinster European Player of the Year nominations

Tadhg Furlong has made the European Player of the Year longlist in 5 consecutive seasons Yes but how many club games as he played this year? 1 or 2? Think if I were Andrew Porter I'd be a bit disappointed in that list! Name recognition Did they get the 2 mixed up??? Interesting that are no English,...

Leinster European Player of the Year nominations

Great to see Leinster names on this list. I'm sure it doesn't harm them to get the nominations in advance of Lions selection conversations! EPCR European Player of the Year 2021 award nominees: Grégory Alldritt (La Rochelle) Levani Botia (La Rochelle) Antoine Dupont (Toulouse) Tadhg Furlong (Leinste...

At 132 kg will he be the heaviest player to play for us in pro era?

Stewart Maguire is closest I can think of?
Ollie Le Roux was listed as 130kg I think.

Re: Michael Alaalatoa signs for Leinster

What is this obsession with moving Porter back to loosehead? He is a world class tighthead, he was a very mediocre loosehead - does nobody remember him playing there? He was pretty much sixth choice on merit and didn't like playing there. On the signing, am on the fence about it. If Bent is leaving...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle

Jesus lads, munster really are living rent free in your heads. I think there should be a nomenclature agreement relating to the four primary figures. If you want to call it ROG's La Rochelle, you must also refer to us as Lancaster's Leinster If you call it Cullen's Leinster, then you must also refe...

Re: Champions Cup 1/4 Final: Exeter V Leinster

Agreed, will be very worried about Lowe's defence for the entirety of this game. Exeter will have a clear target on his back now. Dave is EXTREMELY unlucky and I would have been happy if he'd been picked. That being said, not picking Lowe pre-6 nations would have been unimaginable. If you want to c...

Re: Champions Cup 1/4 Final: Exeter V Leinster

some interesting stats: Exeter Chiefs and Leinster Rugby have faced each other four times already in the Heineken Champions Cup, with the Irish side winning all those games (pool stages 2012/13 and 2017/18). Exeter Chiefs are unbeaten in their last 11 completed games in the Heineken Champions Cup (...

Re: Champions Cup 1/4 Final: Exeter V Leinster

Looks like another weekend off as Prince Phillip has died Would they actually?! Wouldnt have thought West Country folk would be so minded (unless they dont get a say?) Liverpool had to postpone their game the day after Diana died and that would be quite a republican city and she was no longer a mem...

Re: Champions Cup 1/4 Final: Exeter V Leinster

Why not just play Lowe and DK - we've done it before Also an option! Dave has clearly been on fire this season but it's so difficult to judge given that he's been playing Pro 14 rugby and not involved in the international set up. You look at some of the tries he scored in the Pro 14 where he waltze...

Re: Champions Cup 1/4 Final: Exeter V Leinster

I totally agree with this. They use a lot of swing passes out the back to a centre/winger coming from deep. Lowe doesn't tend to do well in those defensive read situations. DK's aerial threat would be a benefit also. The more I think about the game and subject to his shoulder being good I’d love to...

Re: Champions Cup 1/4 Final: Exeter V Leinster

Reviewing how Exeter score and beat teams and acknowledging that the referee is very vigilant on particular offences such as offside by chasers and obstruction in lineouts, what game plan can Leinster adopt to beat Exeter on this occasion? The last time we met, we had a significantly more defensive...

Re: Rainbow Cup Rd 1: Munster @TheRDS

Larkham helpfully provides motivation for the Leinster team. "It was fairly evenly matched throughout the game". This could get ugly. The score was, we butchered 3 tried and it would have been a 25-30 point game. Munster were beaten off the park. It'd worry me if I were a Munster fan and I heard a ...

Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21

Was anyone else disappointed in how Dupont performed? He got a couple of tries running great cheat lines, but when Munster were coming hard at them in the middle third of the game I thought that he (and Ntamack) were very poor. Their halfbacks gave toulouse very little direction and managed their p...

Re: Pro 14 Final vs Munster, March 27th. 5pm. @ The RDS.

An absolute prince. We have been blessed with him. Couldn't agree more. He's been brilliant for us. Why are we still playing in a crumbling oul pony park if he's that bleedin great? That place is older than Fred Astaire's d!ck. Lack of corporate facilities for Leinster games is an embarrassment. As...

Re: Champions Cup 1/4 Final: Exeter V Leinster

The front-row and subs selection is a fascinating question for me. The Italian tactic of choosing to finish with your first choice is peculiar to Franco Smith but his logic is first rate: A. You can only win the game in the final quarter, not the first quarter; B. Statistically there are more scrum...
