Re: Leinster Squad 21-22
I find it wild that it's in any way newsworthy.

Re: S Africa - Unstoppable juggernaut?
As Ronk alluded to you could make a good case for "France - Unstoppable juggernaut?" too. Post world cup they'll crack down on the huge numbers of forwards on benches and the giant lumbering players walking round the pitch until they see someone to hit or just fall on top of but this far ...

Re: S Africa - Unstoppable juggernaut?
There’s no denying that the landscape looks good for them but I think Ray talks a load of b*%&!cks tbh. I haven’t heard this interview but heard him before and thought he came across really well. Followed him on Twitter and realised very quickly that he’s a biased bullshit merchant who just hap...

Re: S Africa - Unstoppable juggernaut?
Looked very different earlier in the season. They did well and looked solid, then they basically had one good week where Ulster and us had a bad one. We went from facing the most limp and uninterested team in URC knockout history to the most and we weren't at all ready for it. We'll do better. To m...

S Africa - Unstoppable juggernaut?
V interesting to listen to Craig Ray on OTB last night. Interesting in a chilling kind of way. I'm not sure it's hyperbole to suggest that Ireland's reign as "nation to have taken best advantage of the pro era" is not only about to end but is about to be trampled into dust by a stampede of...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022
So are we looking at a team of Lowry; Larmour, Hume, Frawley, O'Brien; Byrne, Casey; Loughman, Heffernan, O'Toole; Beirne*, Treadwell; Baird, Timoney, Coombes Herring, Healy, Bealham, McCarthy, Prendergast, Murray, Carbery, Earls for the first Maori game? * having not played for quite a while, I su...

Re: New contracts for coaching ticket
I'm not on the Robin McBryde hype train. Just not feeling it, to be honest. His hands are tied though by the decision to try to turn a mediocre loosehead who became a world class tighthead back into a loosehead. Because, as we've seen over the last couple of weeks, set pieces have no impact whatsoe...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022
Its a very good squad I think. The only players who could feel a wee bit hard done by are Ross Byrne and Nathan Doak I reckon, but I can see why they aren't there. Yeah, I think it's a pretty good squad. The biggish number is enough to get people's hopes up, both players and fans. Obviously it's to...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022
So, apart from wanting to win the series, i guess Faz is hoping to have a better idea ahead of the RWC of: His backup props His best lock partnership His best #20 His backup SH His backup OH His backup FB Everything else can be planned for or juggled on a horses for courses basis. Based on that, i c...

Re: New contracts for coaching ticket
Andrew Goodman being mentioned as possible replacement to Felipe, in the IT this morning. He's currently backs coach at Crusaders. My most distinct memory of him is him literally running over a Scarlet's player on the wing, in front of me in the RDS, on the way to scoring a try. Interesting. Struck...

Re: Leinster v Bulls Friday RDS 19:35 TG4
I thought we coped perfectly well with the Bulls power. Collisions, scrum, redzone and maul were all, to my eyes, honours even at worst. We maybe even shaded them. Where we fell down was on handling errors, lineout mistakes and ruck protection. The Bulls, like LAR, play on the edge of everything. Th...

Re: The Leinster Front Row preview 2021/22
Interesting to see Porter admitting that most of the scrum issues have been due him being a novice at loosehead: https://www.the42.ie/andrew-porter-leinster-la-rochelle-5772873-May2022/?utm_source=shortlink Must be a hell of a job trying to learn it on the fly when you keep facing behemoths. He's n...

Re: Leinster v Munster, URC Final Round, Sat. 21st May, 7:15pm, Aviva
There's no question that individual skills levels are up at Munster and i think it's also fair enough to say that - given the player quality level at the province - the team is getting a decently high level of individual performance from them. I just think that the absence of good attacking shape fo...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Heineken Cup Final Sat 28th May 4.45 Marseille
If Molony is the "glue" of the Leinster pack, Sazy is the "Araldite" of the La Rochelle team. Club captain for more than eight seasons. Despite being capped by the French Barbarians a number of times, Sazy is uncapped during a decade when France named more than 30 different play...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Heineken Cup Final Sat 28th May 4.45 Marseille
Thinking about the game and self-scouting Leinster a bit to see what La Rogelle might do to win, I can't help thinking of the Scottish 6N game where they really flew up on Ireland's pod of 3, with high-low tackling to snuff moves out at source. It worked for a lot of that game. At the same time I'd ...

Didn't we have Jonker as TMO against Sharks, where is son plays? Don't think they can complain so much It was son in law and I think Jonker filled in after another TMO pulled out but still not great for optics. It was more the way Jonker took centre stage and steered the ref that stuck in the craw.
