Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster
did the outrage over central contracts start after Sheehan got his CC or after Barrett chose to come to Ireland, instead of France or Japan for his sabbatical? There was some bitching and moaning about Sheehan (not because of Sheehan, no one will say he doesn't deserve it) but for the effect it has...

Re: Rumour Mill
It's JB - short term contract next december Mixed feelings about this. Amazing player but we need a tighthead and any foreign signing makes me worry we won't get one. Also I worry that we will lose players. I don't understand this signing at all. I perusme this means we are losing a few lads and th...

Re: Croke Park to host major Leinster rugby games
Gonna dissent from the agreed wisdom. We’re gettting to play in Dublin because of the “avarice” of EPCR in the first place. This ties in with Stephen Jones criticism in the times(he’s not the first). Home country advantage is a compromise EPCR make to cover themselves with attendances. We are I’d s...

Re: European Champions Cup 23/24
Bulls leave 11 Springboks at home for crunch Champions Cup play-off - Seems that early report was correct I think a big factor in this is the beating Leinster put on them in the RDS a few weeks back. They would have felt they'd a very good chance of beating Northampton, but wouldn't have relished a...

Re: Champions cup draw …..
The schedule for this competition is absolutely bonkers, not only do we have less than a week to sell tickets, La Rochelle have to travel back from SA to Dublin to play the QF. They really need to find a way to get these last 16 games done before the 6 nations.

Re: Leinster v Leicester - Sat 6 April, 20.00 RTE2
If we loose next weekend, I can see us then not winning urc. LAR have us mentally fecked. On a separate note Off the ball and general irish media, this week will be a ROG lovefest. I can see us not winning the URC if we win next weekend! They aren’t related. Nope, if we loose next weekend , I can se...

Re: Leinster v Leicester - Sat 6 April, 20.00 RTE2
Little bit of arrogance from Leinster to turn down 3 right in front of the sticks just before Conan drops it over the line. Kick the 3 and it’s a 3 score game and game over I agree we should have taken the 3 but I'm not sure it's necessarily arrogance. It seems to just be the way the modern game is.

Re: A whiff of Cordite
That’s more stark. My goal for this season was always to win the URC. I didn’t see us winning a Heineken cup in a World Cup year. While our squad is in a better place than I expected, I can’t see us beating La Rochelle I’m afraid. They look back to their destructive worst, and we can’t live with th...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
He doesn’t call them a failure. But it’s hard to describe them as a success, in the absence of trophies. The left wing this week he said anything apart from a HEC win would be failure. Different language the same narrative. That’s more stark. My goal for this season was always to win the URC. I did...

Re: Croke Park to host major Leinster rugby games
I think I saw somewhere that the GAA charge 750k for it - just taking that as a rough estimate, it means the first 30k tickets are paying for rent. We're not generating >30k sales for a URC QF Not sure that figure is correct, remember hearing comments the time Eddie Hern refused to pay the addition...

Re: Leinster v Leicester - Sat 6 April, 20.00 RTE2
I don’t agree, Harry has been considerably better than Ross this season; and particularly in the big games. The greater athleticism that you sort of casually dismiss, is a major part of the significant difference. As too is Harry’s passing accuracy and speed of passing. In my opinion he’s now a bet...

Re: Rumour Mill
I can't imagine you have the same scenario in football where young promising players at Man City are being constantly egged on to move to Leeds or Brighton or something. Man City currently have 9 senior players out on loan I'm a Liverpool fan and we regularly lend out players to help them develop. ...

Re: Leinster vs Bulls, March 29th, 7.35pm
Well does that not prove the very point that the stats used are not an accurate proxy for true performance: winning rugby? Because we clearly were the better team to the observer and- most importantly, on the scoreboard. Of course stats matter, it almost feels like some of the commentary is driftin...

Re: Croke Park to host major Leinster rugby games
Think URC quarters and semis will probably be more dependant on opposition rather than the stage. If Ulster or Connacht are the quarter final opponents, could generate some support and a big event feel for a quarter final. Conversely a semi final with Benetton, Glasgow, Edinburgh or a South African...

Re: Croke Park to host major Leinster rugby games
We might even get some new fans from the moves. That is certainly how I would be looking at it. New fans from a 10 game move to the Aviva or Croker? Hardly New fans from a single game in Kilkenny? Perhaps, but unlikely to move the needle commercially I would have thought A really innovative approac...

Jack Regan leaves the Ospreys to sign with the Toyota Industries Shuttles. He is developing quiet a varied CV for himself. I'm surprised that he is getting a contract in Japan. I thought that they didn't tend to like fringe foreign players. That said Toyota Industries Shuttles is in the second divi...
