Not someone you were too confident about getting an academy place iirc.

Has there been an improvement in Conway's form recently or is he there on the value of being in previous Irish squads/XXIIIs?

Re: is the Rainbow Cup still going ahead?

Is it just coincidence that most of Leinster's games were late on a Friday night during the RC while the SA teams seemed to get prime time Saturday afternoon slots? Population of SA 60 million Population of Ireland 5 million Population of Scotland 5.5 million Population of Wales 3.2 million Populat...

Is there a very promising coaching set up at Sullivan Upper School?

Never seen them mentioned before and now have 3 in Irish 20s.

I know it's a well worn trope but not surprising to hear based on experience seeing Welsh players for club vs for country.

Re: Connacht 2019/20/21

I find this yearning for Roux once he's leaving a bit weird. Yes he's an effective scrummager and yes he can bulldoze a ruck but his footballing skills are relatively poor along with only being an average lineout forward. I don't feel he's going to get into a Leinster first 15 with everyone fit but ...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

Not necessarily true though. Few would have predicted that Munster would be allowed sign Snyman and Jenkins under the IRFU rules (all while Carter and Nakarawa are at Ulster, and for the time being Fardy at Leinster). We have had the fewest NIQ players of all the provinces for a long time. The rule...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

Third choice scrum-half was always the most likely position that would come and bite us in the ass – I have to say that I think it was a very difficult issue to remedy in practical terms for Guy/Leo/Stuart once McCarthy announced he was going to Munster. Thankfully we have addressed that for next s...

Re: Leinster Academy 20-21

I'd guess Carlow and Dundalk will be next but have been stopped dead in the tracks by Covid. Money was coming from Leinster and the associated centre of education. Both have been financially hit by impact of Covid. Would be surprised if both are not in operation by 2022. Carlow would likely be in c...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

He’s not Daniel Carter, but I don’t see him as a weakness. He’s a running threat himself, plays flat and is a decent passer. I don’t think he’s a fantastic kicker from hand, but he gets their system, makes use of the players around him, has been around the block and is a better player than Brock Ja...

Re: Leinster Rugby announce plans for Rapid Antigen Testing Pilot

The perfect career in the Civil Service is like a sports league table: Played: 40 (years’ service) Won: 0 Lost: 0 Drawn: 40 Scored: 0 (decisions made) Conceded: 0 (responsible taken) Points: a promotion on your last day to a grade that you never worked at. A tax free lump sum of 1.5 time the salary...

Re: Leinster Rugby announce plans for Rapid Antigen Testing Pilot

At the other end of the sports / medical spectrum, fascinating to see that the total cost in 2020 of drug testing sports players was just under €2m, but for only just over a thousand athletes in 27 sports. That's a ridiculous cost per test and deserves some investigative querying by our sports orga...

Re: Leinster Rugby announce plans for Rapid Antigen Testing Pilot

If there were 1,000 athletes tested I'd presume that there were many multiples that number of tests administered. I would imagine a lot of those tests were rapid possibly utilising couriers/their own logistics to get samples to labs etc. Going outside the regular testing scheme and waiting times co...

You would think that the only Irish interest left in Europe this year was Ronan O'Gara the way the media looks this week. Thornley's fawning article yesterday was ridiculous. He wears cowboy boots and has a brand of cultivated scruff that screams "can you spare some change for a hostel, my ban...

Re: Replacing Leinster's older generation over next 12 to 24 months

I'd certainly hope we'd give Nash a one-year deal if he chose to come home. A very rare type of athlete and certainly worth a punt. One could imagine a certain reluctance on Lancaster's part to getting involved in such a cross-over scenario again after his traumatic experience with the Burgess imbr...
