Re: Connacht 2019/20/21

Well played Connacht. Won all the head-to-head encounters except full back and the scoreboard. Possibly the best defensive line-out ever over 80 minutes against Munster. Carty the best looking 10 over the 80mins by a distance. Blade totally out-played Casey who must be believing his press coverage. ...

Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21

The only aspect of the game that Munster were the more superior team was their maul. I doubt the Munster line-out has ever been dismantled so totally by any Irish Province in the modern era. Haley's try was a super effort but it was the sole demonstration of rugby skill by any Munster player.

Re: Ulster, Away, March 6th, 7.35pm

What wouldn't I give to discover Noel Reid hidden behind a door in Clonkeagh today?
Very lightweight in mid-field / full-back and Lowry in particular will cause them problems

Re: Ulster, Away, March 6th, 7.35pm

Against a pack like Ulster's, the effect of introducing an explosive open-side carrier like Penny, at about 55 mins, having coped with / survived the bullocking strength of Ruddock and Murphy could be devastating. Our line-out and scrum should ensure that we'll have a good supply of first phase ball...

Re: Ulster, Away, March 6th, 7.35pm

Based on nothing more than gut instinct and aware of Leocaster's outlook to ALWAYS pick his team to win, but conscious that Farrell may have offered a few suggestions as to who he would like to have game time, I think we might select: 1. Ed Byrne; 2. James Treacy; 3. Ml Bent; 4. Ross Molony; 5. Dev;...

Re: Top14 19-20

Top 14 officials in France have landed the jackpot for their league, securing a 17 per cent increase in the value of TV rights which will see them bank €113.6million per year for the four seasons from 2023/24 to 2026/2027 in a deal with Canal + totalling €454.4m. Wow. We have a job on our hands kee...

Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21

Nothing much not to like about Billy Holland. Great professional, loved by coaches he played for, loved by players he played with and loved by fans of the team he played for and respected by the opposition fans. I remember being chuffed he got his Irish cap even though he was 30ish and knowing he w...

Re: Pro 14 2020-2021 season

So the Final is on the 27th March, a week after we face England in Aviva. That's got to be Leo's major focus over the next three weeks. There are major challenges in trying to put together a coherent Squad for what is almost a 'one-off' Final of our primary competition. Plus Points * Our entire firs...

Re: Ulster, Away, March 6th, 7.35pm

Ed Byrne may get the nod ahead of Dooley (possibly with encouragement from National Coach). Byrne going up first against Marty Moore may give Dooley a big opportunity in last 30 mins as Marty rarely lasts beyond 50 mins. Dev & Ross in the row with Fardy benching. Hawkshaw and RO'L may be our centre ...

Re: 6 Nations 2021

Galtie's story about leaving French Camp before the Italian match doesn't ring true, unless he didn't supply a Test in the subsequent fortnight. Possibly "taking one for the team".

Very stupid and French Health Minister could withdraw French team from 6 Nations as a result.

Re: Glasgow at Home, Sunday the 28th, 5.30pm

Really dangerous catching technique by Hastings. Jumped with body square on and came to groud with right foot raised towards player following up and catches Kelleher in the face. Certainly not exercising anything like 'duty of care'.

Well handled by Murphy.

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.

Another SO'B contribution for the London Irish cause for 60 minutes. Watching Will Connors v Italy and comparing his performance with the snippets of SO'B on BT, you'd certainly hope that Will would develop the physicality that is still evident when SO'B is in carrying mode. Awesome!

Re: 6 Nations 2021

I do think we'll see Ciano start against England though. Kilcoyne's scrummaging is more hit and miss and he's a penalty machine at times. Might be more impactful for him to come from the bench. In addition to Kilcoyne's scrummaging problems, he may also have a problem with his clearout technique. T...

Re: 6 Nations 2021

For 45 mins, possibly the most effective back-row we've fielded for 3 seasons. A decent performance from the front five, except for Kelleher's darts in second-half. Very good mid-field running and cohesion. Lowe just hasn't the pace for an international winger. Larmour a great threat in broken field...

Penny at 8 on our ball should have an armchair ride. Possibly see him at openside on their attacking scrums.

Re: 6 Nations 2021

Nobody should take the attacking potential of this Italian team for granted. Based on their stats from first two games, their weakness is defensive. Franco Smith seems like he has a good young half-back pairing and an exciting centree combination. Both wingers can score tries from distance or half c...

Re: 6 Nations 2021

France v Scotland postponed. BBC mention moving match to next weekend means Scotland without 10 English and French based players. Scotland/BBC weren't bothered about France missing 10 players. 😉😉😁😁😃😃 If I were Scots, it wouldn't concern me either. Senior French Squad reputed to have mixed with thei...

Re: Glasgow at Home, Sunday the 28th, 5.30pm

Very unlikely as Leo has never dumped a player who has preped for a game ,except because of injury. That's one of his strong points for the overall Squad loyalty.
