Re: Leinster Academy 20-21
https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/rugby/arid-40221629.html good article on rugby now, also confirms Marcus Kiely was cut from 20's. Very good article alright. Kieran Shannon is a good writer and he's interviewed two men who have good vantage points over quite a range of levels of rugby in Ireland...

Re: Energia All Ireland Competitions Season 2020-21
The cancellation of both AIL and Womens Interpro competitions is a major blow to Club rugby around the country and suggests that IRFU Committee have limited interest of the impact on Clubs over the past 10 months. The Union should have announced the postponement and revision of the AIL format to co...

France Under 20s played Italy Under 20s today.... France won 25-24 Link if anyone wants to watch it.... https://www.facebook.com/FranceRugby/videos/225256595847352/ Surprised, would have thought under 20s Rugby wouldn't be played at the moment given the current numbers. Edited to add I'm actually n...

Re: SOB's perspective on underage club rugby in the province:
More investment and help for the club game is always a good thing but it should be acknowledged that the clubs are producing a reasonable amount of players. Off the top of my head there is: Dooley/Milne, Delahunt/McElroy, Vakh/Tadhg/Aungier, Deeney/Alan O'Connor/Dave O'Connor, Izuchukwu, SOB, Boyle...

No disagreement with that call. Coaching the coaches to deliver the skills, not just the results, has always been a conundrum. The Coach who delivers the results, from Junior or Under 20 rugby, is always more likely to get promotion that the coach who develops, or adds to, the skills of the develop...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Meh. O'Connor has to write a couple of articles a day, some of these are bound to crop up. Clearly Leinster set the standard at the moment, just as Ulster [in the 80s] and Munster [for much of the 00s] previously set the standard. I say this pretty frequently [so apologies for repeating myself], bu...

Confirmed. https://twitter.com/munsterrugby/status/1295670884850638848?s=21 No more toys for Munster until they stop breaking them. All Limerick refereeing team for Saturday. Andy Brace in the middle with George Clancy and Joy Neville doing the line. Would be fairly shocking if true - if there's an...

Re: Energia All Ireland Competitions Season 2020-21
Was there not for years AIL structure with uneven home/away games. Not ideal but everyone plays everyone. It's for one season Aren't fixtures pretty much set/made online so no bias comes into it. The all Ireland plate and bowl are only for this season so the league format most likely is also only fo...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020
Fixing = improvement I’m saying that if the schools and underage development programs didn’t do anything differently (consciously) but the academy players start consistently breaking fully in the Munster 1st team, then standards would improve in the schools. what percentage of coaches in most of th...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020
Academies are built on a virtuous cycle. Schoolboys in Leinster know that they’ll get looked after if they make it to the academy. They won’t all make it but they will probably get a shot. Can a kid in a Munster school look at Munster’s squad and say the same thing. Maybe they are less likely to be...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020
Interesting discussion. Just my two cents as a Munster supporter. Firstly I’ve no interest in a parochial interprovincial shitfight. Bores me to tears. They’re all Irish players and the more high quality guys the Irish system produces the better I think If looking from outside over a 10 year stretc...
