Re: Leinster v. Ulster, Rainbow Cup, Fri 14 May, 20.15hrs

I think it was a high tackle, Henshaw’s arms end up around Balacoune’s neck, if he had managed to avoid any contact with the head/neck area, it would have been a great tackle. That’s where I sit on it too. We'll have to agree to disagree then, I didn't see anything that was technically illegal. Say...

Re: is the Rainbow Cup still going ahead?

So Treviso go 4 points clear at the top with a BP win.
A place in the final is theirs to lose now! :D

Re: Leinster v. Ulster, Rainbow Cup, Fri 14 May, 20.15hrs

Yeah, Henshaw’s tackle was on the edge as D’arcy described it at half time, but I thought it didn’t cross any lines for me, so penalty only was the right call. Poor body position but did more damage to himself than to Balacoune. I don't think the penalty was for the tackle, but for a different, rea...

Re: A whiff of Cordite

With Munster's loss and Leinster not winning with a bonus point, Eirsports talking that everything is still in Munster's hands. Looking at fixtures I wouldn't be too surprised if Benetton win out. Maybe less than 50-50 but still a strong chance. Not a single mention of that possibility though. They...

Benetton control their own destiny and have 1st place if they beat Zebre, Connacht at home and Ospreys away.
Would be mad if the team that finished bottom of the league with no wins made the GRAND FINAL of this!
Probably a fitting way to end this tournament.

Should have captain challenged that ruck at the end. The whole Ulster team were playing the ball on the ground there.
Yeah true but we probably would have lost the challenge. Playing the ball on the ground and side entry very rarely reffed anymore.

Connacht are doing their bit to make this competition interesting so far
Carty on now though, so that's the end of that...
Have faith!
(Not in Carty but in his teammates)
Totally, me of little faith!
Well done Connacht.

Doesn't that mean Connacht have won away in Leinster, Ulster and Munster in (effectively) the same season. Has that ever happened before??

Re: is the Rainbow Cup still going ahead?

What a shambles. It means no engagement from a lot of teams and most supporters.
I guess at least we get to see Leinster play a few games before next season.

Re: is the Rainbow Cup still going ahead?

The final is on Saturday June 19th between either the top 2 in the NH competition / top sides in each of the NH and SH competitions. If latter, Italy being suggested as a venue. The format is flexible! Are you serious?! What a shitshow  You'd think at this stage they'd finally call the format ...

Munster giving Ulster a bit of a beating even before Will Addison's red card just before half-time. Could get very ugly for Ulster in the second half.
Ulster haven't really turned up the. Look half interested.

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

There has been a bit of inaccurate comment about the extent to which Top 14 budgets determine success as if our progress is built off a fat chequebook. Nonsense. I find this part pretty unconvincing, but the rest is interesting as usual. I've never disliked ROG. Re-watching the game, that missed ea...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

Good first post. Level headed. You'll do well around these parts 1. We don't win it every year. We do lose to the same formula for the last 3 consecutive years though. 2. It is not just a game , it is a business that needs to be successful to live, survive and thrive and is 90% resourced to do so. ...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

Good to see a little more perspective after the inevitable overreaction post game.
I'm staying optimistic for the future. Even having the SA teams in the league should help us. It'll make it harder to win the league but could/should make us better prepared for Europe.

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

We made handling errors and had poor ruck work because they were big? Nah, don't agree with that. I think I'll leave it there as this isn't going anywhere! We also relied too much on getting to deck, which exposed us to poaching turnovers. They had 16 offloads to our 3, including 9 from their backs...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

I said when he was up for grabs we should go all in for Skelton. If Munster can get someone like Snyman then it’s not unrealistic to think we could do similar. We lack that sheer bulk As long as we’re supplying a huge tranche to Ireland for the 6N we’ll probably always have a lot of injuries in Apr...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

Very disappointed. They just had too much power. They had the squeeze in the scrum, won the collisions and their caries around the fringes got them easy meters. Atonio and Skelton unstoppable. Interestingly, nine of the La Rochelle starting XV hail from outside France (vs one for Leinster). Difficu...
