Re: The quickening 2024
Going up against the Lions and going up against the Stormers isn't some sort of pointless task. A weaker team than we sent out last week beat the Lions last year. The team we sent over to play the Stormers two seasons ago – the season they won the URC - wasn't anything like our strongest team either...

Re: The quickening 2024
There was absolutely no reason for Leinster not to field a REALLY strong side (of exclusively front line players) against the Lions, and then fly anyone needed for the Saints game home a full 11 days before the Croke park semi ..... with 4 or 5 points in the bag. Then send an academy side out again...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2
Cullens crazy , yes crazy selection decisions could leave us with nothing again this year. He got it badly wrong v Munster last Yr and got it wrong again today . Why not send stronger squad for 1 game here? We will be down to 3rd by next wk. We will have to see what we are made of now with games on...

Re: The quickening 2024
You'd have to imagine the coaches are prepared for all outcomes, including losing to the Lions. If they haven't a plan, then that'd be a pretty glaring problem. So I highly doubt we'll see anyone fly out to SA. It's incredibly unlikely. We've got a team preparing for a sold out European semi-final ...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2
This year's trip to SA is very akin to last year's. Underresourced team. Surely we could have given Kelleher and Conan and Connors much needed game time? Andrew Osborne has got more opportunities than merited to my mind. His defensive reading makes Stockdale look good. But maybe that is down to our...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2
I watched the Lions play Connacht in the Sportsgrounds in round 12. Even with 14 men they eviscerated Connacht. 38-14 final score. When they click they are a very dangerous side. I can't see from the table how many tries they've scored but they have 11 Bps. They have pace everywhere so once they're...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2
Not sure the selection was so bad, the performance was just terrible. A total sh1t show. Leinster had 62% possession, 73% territory, 232 passes vs 86 for Lions, Lions made 164 tackles vs 67 for Leinster - yet Lions carried for 449m vs 370m for Leinster and scored 44 points vs 12. Just shows how bad...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2
Frustrating performance and a big loss. Congratulations to the Lions, who tackled well and were very sharp when it took to scoring tries. We had plenty of ball in that game, certainly enough to take something from the game, i.e. four tries. Hard on us that Liam Turner's obvious and legitimate try wa...

Worth a watch, from Michael Cheka.
The difference in what he says – they're where we want to be, let's get there – and what you hear at the moment from whingers left, right and centre is stark.

Re: Connacht 2023/24
Hawkshaw has 8 starts at 13 this season. Hawkshaw at 13 strikes me more as the coaching staff identifying a logjam at 12 and trying to find a way to get him into the team, rather than assessing his physical and technical attributes and coming to the conclusion that outside centre is the position th...

Re: Leinster Academy 23-24
Any report anywhere ? nope Ireland U19 43 - 31 Wales U19 It was a very physical encounter of impressive intensity. Ireland got the first points in very early, after a line-out move in the second minute. After another try soon after (8th minute) the more clinical Irish team seemed to relax a bit and...

Re: New contracts for coaching ticket
So far my favourite line has been "....they lost by TWENTY SEVEN POINTS" :D :D :D :D I thought it had been under-established, to be honest. They beat us quite handily in the semi-final three years ago, but that game was competitive [18-16 to La Rochelle] until the 68 minute mark. The othe...

Re: New contracts for coaching ticket
A 3 hour episode of the Molecast this week? I think we did about 75-80 mins on Leinster. We talked about discussing the Connacht and Ulster games, but they were really disappointing performances and we didn't want to go on and on about how poorly they had performed. A lot of the time we would have ...

Priceless stuff. Leinster replace Ngatai with Barrett so.... Waterfordlad I've been a member of Irish Rugby Supporters Club since 2008, mainly for access to tickets/events. No more, I'm done. The power of one. It's a small thing at 50 euros a year but I'm quitting on principle. I'll still support M...

Re: New contracts for coaching ticket
Excellent - Leinster have made great signings either side of the white line Yes, seems like a very good signing. Outhalves and inside centres have a head start in coaching on most other players. A lot of the decisions about how and where the game is won and lost go through them and they have to hav...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????
Rumour was that Knox and Wig fell out. Yes. Mega bust up with Pom by all accounts. But seems to all stem from wig unwilling to get Poms contract sorted. Basically he saw this contract season as his one chance to properly sort some issues in terms of strength. And saw Pom while a super player as som...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????
Looks very light to only travel with 5 props, when one of them is Jager who is just a few weeks post knee surgery. The decision to release Keynan Knox mid-year looks increasingly baffling, and the only conclusion on Academy THP Darragh McSweeney must be that they don't rate him at all. Knox require...
