Re: RWC 2023: Ireland
We've just seen a very enjoyable tournament held in an excellent fashion by a small country in an isolated part of the world. In my opinion we should realistically stick our hat in the ring for 2023, I can really only see positives here: - tourism - sport (yes all the main field sports) - infrastru...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Who’s the jurno that’s been kicking up the non-story around Mack Hanson? The amount of airtime across podcasts wasted across broadcast media this week was a bit of a nonsense

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Fiona Hayes has pronounced the Fijian captains name about four different ways so far, all incorrect. I cant do it. I cant make it through more than 5 mins of her rambling, gasping nonsense before I reach either for the remote or the razor blade. So many better analysts than her and she's tripping o...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Reckon that’s the end of OTB as we know it. Rarely get to listen live and did enjoy monday and Wednesday night rugby pods and the Draco pod but rugby daily is shite re-hash of what was said last night and Gilroys “well what about etc.” style is not great journalism to put it mildly. No thanks.

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Did OTB ever really recover from losing the second captains crew, Molloy isn’t bad and Richie too but otherwise it can be quite poor “whataboutory” discussions and low bar devils advocate type stuff.

Has anyone out there read Joe Abercrombie, any particular titles you’d recommend if so?

Delighted for Munster and all the travelling fans except for the one lad for some reason waving a LaRochelle flag about the place after the win. Idiot.

Hmm see they do Sarries, Quinn’s and USA rugby and some league, looks a bit meh range wise. Shame but hey ho so long as it’s a decent payday to fund facilities.

Who have we changed to?Dave Cahill wrote: ↑May 19th, 2023, 7:46 pm Lifestyle are utter testicles, however this year especially there is no way they were, back in february, going to order, or adidas make, a load of stock for a final we might not be in and will depreciate to tuppence if, as is widely rumoured, Leinster have changed provider

Re: A whiff of Cordite
The AIL final deserved more time, there’s an interesting story there on the league and the club game being the forgotten man of Irish rugby coverage even though it’s quite well supported at local community level and is massively responsible for where we’re at given generational involvement by famili...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Blizzard OTB chat with Alan Quinlan about why everyone in Munster should be supporting La Rochelle, Quinlan was fairly balanced, one of the hosts was just brutal drawing equivalence to English football in that you don’t support rivals. Missing the big picture that any Irish province winning the Euro...

Martin Bayfield on BT after thebgame today saying that La Rochelle had two hard games before the final and that Leinster "dont have that" La Rochelle have games that they can afford to lose, we dont, we lose next week our URC season is over, we win and lose the following week, our URC sea...

Question does the coverage of women’s rugby reflect the interest, this being a dedicated rugby forum we’re on page 11 of a thread started in 2016, compare and contrast with the discussions/threads around the U20s every year. Maybe I’m not comparing like with like but both are niche parts of an alre...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Anyone else find “grand slam winner” Fiona Hayes on Newstalk just brutal at coms and punditry, what has her flavour of the month with OTB? Are there really no ex pros available for Co coms for a H-cup 1/4 final? Why the inverted commas around grand slam winner? Not grand enough for you? Did she not...

Anyone else listen to Wednesday night rugby on Newstalk? Bizarrely short on build up to a champions cup weekend even mentioning there being zero buzz about the inter pro element despite then being corrected that it is a sell out. They’re giving huge amounts of air/podcast time to women’s six nations...
