Re: Leinster v. Ulster, Rainbow Cup, Fri 14 May, 20.15hrs

Whatever about wanting a change to the law, the eir pundits seemingly thinking that the ref should severely punish Henshaw when he hasn't actually done anything wrong is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure there's a section in the laws about it. It specifically refers to "any tackle where a commentator fee...

Re: Leinster v. Ulster, Rainbow Cup, Fri 14 May, 20.15hrs

Should have captain challenged that ruck at the end. The whole Ulster team were playing the ball on the ground there. Yeah true but we probably would have lost the challenge. Playing the ball on the ground and side entry very rarely reffed anymore. Very true, but surely they have to apply the law w...

Re: is the Rainbow Cup still going ahead?

I can't see Munster losing any games, and you know what, I really couldn't care less. I honestly don't think I could muster the energy to care about the final of this nonsense if we were in it. Whatever about whether or not a European cup win would have an asterisk beside it or not, this markey uppy...

Re: Leinster Squad 21-22

I watched the Bulls vs Stormers game there at the weekend, and my biggest takeaway was that the Michael Alaalatoa signing was incredibly wise. The Stormers front row was Frans Malherbe, Bongi Mbonambi & Steven Kitshoff. They each range from 17.5 to 20 stone. All 30 year old veterans, capped by South...

Good video that. Makes me even more nervous about Henshaw making it back in one piece though.
It’ll be worth it if we win the test series
I wouldn't sacrifice a player for that in a month of Sundays.

Re: Connacht v Leinster Rainbow Cup Sat 8/5 19.35

Hmmm Baird wasn't great there. A few minutes later he was bundled into touch as well. He really needs to figure out the physicality bit over the summer. He's a bit of a luxury second row right now. Amazing athletic ability in broken play and on our defensive lineout, but he needs to balance the boo...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

I think people forget that James Ryan is still just 24 years old. He's 5 years younger than Ian Henderson, who has had plenty of bad form in the last 5 or 6 years. Ryan has a long way to go before he's in the peak of his career, which tends to be 27-33 or so for a second row. I have no doubt that he...

Re: 2021 Lions

You could make a serious team out of players not going, couldn't you? Something like Healy, Kelleher, Sinkler, Gray, Ryan, Underhill, Navidi, Vunipola, Youngs, Sexton, May, Slade, Ringrose, Earls, Keenan

Re: 2021 Lions

I think Tadgh Beirne will definitely get it He's certainly on most people's list and he has the advantage of being versatile. But... I worry that as a lock he's just too lightweight against the Saffers. And as a second row / 6 he is vying with Itoje and Henderson. I can see one crossover back 5, po...

Re: Connacht v Leinster Rainbow Cup Sat 8/5 19.35

We've lost two in a row. When was the last time we lost three on the bounce I wonder? Connacht beat us on the 2nd of January in the RDS. Are we going to let them beat us again? Twice in a row? If the above doesn't sharpen the minds, bullshit tournament or not, I don't know what will. Whoever plays, ...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

Thats fine. Just dont expect us to win Europe next year is all. Our current second rows aren't good enough at the business end of Europe, maybe JR excluded. That's fine if we just want to get to quarters or semi finals but it wont get us a fifth star as every other side is spending money on the top...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

I understand the premise of the topic. I do actually think its possible for us to sign a top class lock and its something that is very much required if we want to return to the top of the tree. Getting someone in of the quality of kruis is very achievable. Unfortunately we seem to want to win these...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

This nonsense of wearing masks after games needs to stop, Sweltering heat and lads coming off the pitch gasping for air having their breathing restricted, rebreathing their own C02, blood crying out for oxygen they're not getting. Of course masks are absolute madness in every day life in general, h...

Gutting that Larmour didn’t find McGrath with that pass. Looked a try if it was hit him. La Rochelle making yards too easily. Need to cut out the sloppy passing and cheap penalties in the second half.

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

It goes without saying really, but we really need our half backs to play the full game. We're in trouble if either of them go down early, but otherwise, I'm pretty confident to be honest. We need to play at the level we managed against Exeter for the last hour of the game. If we do that and keep our...

Re: A whiff of Cordite

You would think that the only Irish interest left in Europe this year was Ronan O'Gara the way the media looks this week. Thornley's fawning article yesterday was ridiculous.
