He does more flanking than locking.

They also tried to sign Pieter Steph du Toit.

Re: A whiff of Cordite

I'm not 100% convinced. He has too much history going after soft targets like Beckham and Henson and it's a lazy popular path for him. The dog whistle is tricky and doesn't win podcast subscribers, it's a bit brave for him. It also doesn't fit with the point he was apparently making. But I'm wouldn'...

I'd like to avoid French sides away when they still have something to play for.

Well they had 2 years to try him and they never gave any indication they say him as a 6, even after finding Snyman.

Presumably Coombes would have barely played if that was the plan anyway.

Re: 2021 Lions

Well, I'm sorry for Murray that he lost the captaincy and is only subbing and I'm happy for Beirne. Kinda wish we could have gotten him back after Scarlets.

Re: Leinster Squad 21-22

Leinster created a new coaching role to accommodate his skillset. It will be tough to replace him and the question could well be about whether you even try to go like-for-like.

Best of luck to him (except against us).

Re: 2021 Lions

Dublin meeja bias affecting Warren?

Conan's a strange one for them to take a dislike to. I got with Heaslip that there was at least a selection debate in their eyes.

Conan's just a good player who hit form at the right time, when maybe others weren't at the best they've ever been.

Henderson is the loser from the 5-3 split. But an extra back is great to have.

Id say to there's already something pencilled in, but in the current environment it's easier to announce it later than to announce it an then change it.

Smith plays for Quins. Point is about 12 clubs to share the talent rather than 4.

Openside is in danger of going the way of the NFL running back. So many injuries and shortened careers that many teams use a committee of them rather than invest in an elite one.

Re: 2021 Lions

And Harry was capped for Ireland at a younger age than Marcus Smith.

There are well discussed reasons why a player like Smith might have 100 caps for Sale but Byrne has so many less.

Fair play to him for an incredibly fast rise. Not thrilled that England are going to be harder to beat.

Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21

Beirne is in line to be starting at 6 for the Lions. In 3 seasons at Munster, he’s started there twice. A win against Saracens (one of their best results in 3 years) and a loss he was injured 10 minutes into. He played in the backrow a lot more for Ireland. He was a big, big signing, was well known ...

Who knows about promotion. He's probably good for another year as it's late for other countries (and not good value to pickup an academy player who'll go back if he does well) and other provinces will be blocked.

In practise you poach before they get to the academy.

I don't think you lose anything putting Keenan on the wing. He's been locked in for Ireland so we don't need to worry about being overstocked at fullback.
