Re: A whiff of Cordite
The top Irish provinces have great setups with large S&C teams, loads of coaches, resources for a big squad and a good tradition of personal discipline (nutrition, recovery etc.). That’s a nice advantage generally, but in such disruptive circumstances it’s bigger than ever. No crowds, pay cuts, heal...

Re: Are Leinster an offloading team? Does the Leinster attack lack imagination?
Offloading is sometimes a sign of having to force play. Leinster offload somewhat but teams live off turnovers and you have to be realistic about doing what works. If you’re able to build phases and then scores then why not. If teams leave themselves open to offloads we can be quick to take advantag...

An Argentinian side based is Bilbao? Could that work? Someone else would have to be jettisoned I would assume, maybe the 2 Italian clubs merged into 1. Can't see happening tbh. You'd have to look at the Welsh teams. Tiny domestic market, badly supported, only the Scarlets have been competitive in t...

Re: Pro 16
The Jaguares were S15 finalists in 2019. They’d be stocked with internationals and they’d grow the game in Spain.
As it stands residency qualification could be Spain based and work permit issues would be strange. Now would they be allowed into the Heineken Cup?

The Super X* was creaking under pressure and added travel to Japan and Argentina at the same time as an expansion of the international calendar.

POM took out a player who was off his feet and after the ball was available. It was a cheap shot.
There no rugby reason to fly in so hard you jump into the contact and then change shoulders as you bounce off.

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
Archer and Ryan again tonight for Munster, can’t help but think Salanoa would of racked up some serious minutes for us this season. + And how Aungier seems to have been the big beneficary. The strong suggestion was that he only moved to Connacht because Salanoa was staying in Leinster (only to chan...

Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21
POM is a very good player, I’m (kinda) not sure whether he’s a 6 or a 7. Just like I’m kinda not sure if Stander is a 6 or an 8. When you can balance a backrow with him/them in it then it goes well. But sometimes that’s hard and the deficiencies in their games are exposed. The selection debate has g...

Re: Sexton's last season? Outhalf going forward..
International centre is a bust at the moment. Too many players fighting for only a few positions. And a few others on the outside looking in too. There’s no point in trying to please Farrell/Catt. Frawley offers something different in terms of both style of play and versatility. If he can do what he...

Re: 6 Nations 2021
I assume when people say scrap the central contracts, they don't mean and then spend the money on brandy and cigars. Keep the money in the system but come up with a different finding model, be it match bonuses, tournament bonuses, or more funding for the provinces, etc. so that current form is more...

Re: 6 Nations 2021
I don’t see the problem with central contracts. They’re not perfect and they get blame when people don’t like selections. Are there really that many genuine examples of guys getting picked because of the contract? Players like SOB and Henshaw played uneconomic numbers of games in recent years, for L...

Re: Sexton's last season? Outhalf going forward..
The Ford-Farrell axis has been good for England & Sexton-Farrell was a big success for the Lions. Normally I’d have been all over Frawleys versatility and keeping it warm but there’s a more tempting prize in having him as a higher level 12 and that’s true for him and for Leinster (& hopefully Irelan...

Re: Sexton's last season? Outhalf going forward..
Frawley hasn’t played outhalf this season. He’d be moving to be a backup wherever he went. He’s on track to lock in 12 behind Henshaw (when everyone it fit), Henshaw misses a lot of Leinster games. He then has a good shot of Heineken Cup selection if Henshaw or Ringrose are out (move Henshaw). Add i...

Re: Sexton's last season? Outhalf going forward..
There are international 10s at 4 provinces. And 2 in exile.
It's all we'll and good saying that Leinster have too many talented outhalves, but there isn't an option that offers considerably more quality game time.

Re: 6 Nations 2021
Lowe was everywhere. He made a few mistakes but there were some good defensive reads, especially in the ground he covered to appear on the right wing just in time.
To get so close to scoring from that position was phenomenal. Teams are afraid of him.

Re: 6 Nations 2021
We're overusing screen passing. With a big enough overlap the screen slows you going wide and gives the defence time to fold. It looks lime it was precalled and thus harder to back out of.
But a straight skip can do it too.
