Re: Glasgow at Home, Sunday the 28th, 5.30pm

Given the number of unavailable players, that’s a very decent and balanced Leinster side. Obviously Penny at 8 is the exception! With our three no. 8s and Ruddock unavailable I would like to see Soroka get a run. The midfield is really exciting and I hope to see a more fluid attack with, what is an ...

Very sad news. A great character of the game gone way too young. May he Rest In Peace

Re: Are Leinster an offloading team? Does the Leinster attack lack imagination?

Not sure I accept the premise of Andy’s (or Joe’s) argument. Offloading is one element of the game and often an effective way to get in behind structured defenses but I don’t think it necessarily follows that offloading = champagne rugby and not offloading = boring. However, I do believe that Leinst...

Re: Pro 16

An Argentinian side based is Bilbao? Could that work? Someone else would have to be jettisoned I would assume, maybe the 2 Italian clubs merged into 1. Can't see happening tbh. Bilbao is a bit of a pain in the hole to get to with flights though. Ryanair were running seasonal flights to Vittoria (45...

Re: Glasgow at Home, Sunday the 28th, 5.30pm

I think this selection needs to be viewed in the context of the Ulster match six days later. Experience will be important against Ulster and I expect that Toner and Fardy will play in the Kingspan, so they may get a run out on Sunday. Internationals and injuries mean that once again, the squad will ...

Re: Sexton's last season? Outhalf going forward..

If I was advising Frawley, I'd tell him he should concentrate on No12. The Harry Byrne/Frawley midfield looks extremely potent to me – a real blueprint for how Leinster can move forward. Two players at the midfield knuckle who can pass, kick, run and make decisions with real skill. I also don't thi...

Re: Dragons Away, 19th Feb, 7.35pm

That is precisely the sort of game which gives valuable experience to players like Baird, Clarkson, Harry Byrne, O'Reilly, Hanan and G McGrath. Dragons played a game akin to a mid-90's Limerick AIL team with a very talented, kicking, out-half and a limited but effective game plan for the skill-set ...

Re: Dragons Away, 19th Feb, 7.35pm

What sort of backrow will leinster have for the 6 nations if Conan/Ruddock/Connors/JVDF are all with ireland and not released and Penny/Deegan/Doris looking like they'll all be out injured. Could we see Soroka start at 6 or 8? Good question. I think it may come down to who Leo and Stuart rate highe...

Re: Dragons Away, 19th Feb, 7.35pm

Frawley is a seriously talented footballer who needs a run of game in a given position. Having been moved from 10 to 12, I think it would be unfair to move him again. He’s a very different player to Henshaw but offers a second five eighth option to enhance our kicking and distribution options. Let’s...

Re: Away to Scarlets, 30/01, Saturday @ 7.35pm

Lots of very positive reports on this match her and in the media, and looking at the score line alone one might think they’re merited. However, I’m a contrarian here, this was a poor performance against a terrible side. Leinster had total physical dominance and a vastly superior set piece which was ...

Triggs was a great guy, really positive presence in the group by all accounts. I hope that he and his family and safe and happy in NZ; they had some tough times here.

Re: Away to Scarlets, 30/01, Saturday @ 7.30pm

Obviously I want (and expect) to see a win but I’ll be really interested in our performance across a number of areas: Lineout - it just has to get better Ruck- backrow needs to be better at poaching in defense and faster with the clear out in attack Scrum half - Luke needs to keep up the form he sho...

Re: Away to Scarlets, 30/01, Saturday @ 7.30pm

So maybe something like this: 1. Dooley 2. Cronin 3. Furlong 4. Molony 5. Toner 6. Baird 7. Leavy 8. Conan 9. McGrath 10. HB 11. Kearney 12. Frawley 13. Turner 14. Kelleher 15. O'Reilly 16. Tracey 17. Byrne 18. Bent 19. Fardy 20. Murphy 21. HOS 22. Hawkshaw 23. Comerford This throws up some interes...

Re: Leinster Squad 20-21

Ulster signing Nakarawa (they must have borrowed the turnip’s money tree!) looks like good news for Leinster as we’re more likely to keep Doris, Conan and Deegan.

Re: Munster Away 26/12 19:35 Eir Sport 1

I acknowledge that I wear blue tinted glasses but I really don’t understand this narrative that Munster was the better team and Leinster picked their pocket at the end. Particularly when the same narrative effuses about the amazing Munster goal line defense and two critical, try saving turnovers. Th...

Re: Munster Away 26/12 19:35 Eir Sport 1

Scrum was a bit of a mess with parity overall. Lineout similar; I think Ryan is a great defensive jumper and we need to get him in the air more often. Munster won the kicking game; more accurate kicks, better chase and they fielded our kicks more effectively. Munster slightly better on the deck, for...

One of the panelists on RTE Radio post-match made no bones about the fact that he was absolutley gutted by the result.
In his opinion, Munster man for man have a better squad than Leinster.
I thought that that was an interesting comment.
