Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

Has this thread reached a conclusion and whether Leinster should be investing in a second-row enforcer? I'm sure Leo and Mick Dawson want to know. For what its worth (which is nothing), I think there's been some good arguments made here fur us not needing one, but the argument for having one is str...

Re: Leinster Squad 21-22

That would be my thinking too. I'd like if they'd confirmed it! But really, is there any other reason to only sign a 1 year extension? There's probably a couple. The player might want to keep his options open, the IRFU might not want to commit too much scarce cash until they see a full recovery fro...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

Not in quantum but no prohibition re duration of contract. True, but he's only 30 so that wouldn't be an issue. He's been here 9 years and has achieved a huge amount. A couple of Celtic Leagues, a Challenge Cup, a Grand Slam, has played for two provinces and the national team. I'd say only more cap...

We could only offer what Connacht were offering, the provinces aren't allowed to outbid each other.

Are we sure Ross is injured? Thought we just just took him off because the game was won and we have injuries.

Re: Leinster v. Ulster, Rainbow Cup, Fri 14 May, 20.15hrs

I normally hate suggestions that player x should be played in position y as an experiment. So, I'd like to see Ringrose get some minutes in the 10 jersey - there were some things on Saturday that were quite interesting. Not sure that this is the game to do it in, but considering our injury of unfit ...

Re: Ireland 2021-22

Rugby's Six Nations championship will remain live on "free-to-air" TV in Ireland after a deal, in principle, between RTÉ, Virgin Media and Six Nations Rugby. RTÉ lost the TV broadcast rights to the Guinness Six Nations in 2015, and since 2018 games have been shown live on Virgin Media. But under an ...

Ireland 2021-22

Andy Farrell’s Ireland squad are set to play two Test matches in July against Japan and the USA at the Aviva Stadium. As outlined by World Rugby today, on the 3rd July Ireland are scheduled to play Japan. The Brave Blossoms will play the British and Irish Lions the week before taking on Ireland at t...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

Thanks, Dave (and apologies to all for putting this in the wrong thread I thought I was putting it it the Conn match thread). So at the moment (assuming the SA's are out of the equation) does this mean that whoever tops the group wins or is there a top 2 Final? Yep, the latter, 6 rounds of games, o...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

Sorry guys can someone just clarify for me ......the winner of this group (Northern Hemisphere), plays the winner of the South African group, in a final somewhere, is that how this thing culminates? Have I got that right? As things stand there are no plans for the winners of the Rainbow Cup (NH) to...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

Maybe he's had a conversation with Farrell and knows that he won't be in the reckoning unless there's a major 2nd row crisis. He was brought into Irish rugby and first capped by Joe Schmidt, but maybe Farrell has a different pecking order. I like him as a player, hes the only player of his type real...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

I haven't seen much commentary about the seemingly exceptional easing on the number 'non-European' player allowed in match day squads this season (see clause 3.6 - https://www.epcrugby.com/champions-cup/format/rules/). Would that have any impact on the squad La Rochelle would have been able to sele...

Re: Connacht v Leinster Rainbow Cup Sat 8/5 19.35

This is a bit of a forward battering. Nice to see, but again you'd have to wonder how these types of league games serve Leinster when you look at last week. Even the most ardent Pro14/Rainbow Cup booster would have to admit it's a totally different level. It’s a week late. But nice to see an improv...

Funny in some ways, but it wasn’t a classy thing they did.
Maybe things have changed over the years, but it was always traditional to let a retiring foward have a kick in his last game, especially if he wa a real clubman.

Re: Connacht v Leinster Rainbow Cup Sat 8/5 19.35

Hmmm Baird wasn't great there. Nor Keenan, but thats due to a lack of experience for both. Keenan well full tilt across and got stepped very easily - Baird went too high and focussed on the ball instead of just stopping the man An old bull and a young bull are standing on a hill looking down on the...
