Alan McLoughlin has passed away aged 54, very sad, gave us one of the great memories in the history of Irish football

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

Totally agree with you there. Unfortunately if you give a different point of view on this forum, some posters take it to the nth degree to shoot you down. It's just an opinion but you would swear some people on here think they are actually making decisions on behalf of the club. It's quite strange ...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

In the decade or so since we signed Hines (and Thorn on a medical joker) the Leinster coaching team has changed at least twice, the NSSSD has come in (and it hasn't gone away you know), the national coaching team has changed at least twice and a High Performance director has been appointed. So to co...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

I think the last few seasons have shown everyone that we are lacking a big nasty second row. If the coaching team didnt think we needed one before, we sure as hell do now. No, they haven't. People are reacting to a poor performance and focusing on the most obvious aspect. If we had Victor Matfield ...

Re: Enforcer Second-Row Options

It does come down to money. If it didn't then why did munster get snyman and dda? They knew they needed world class players to improve. They couldn't do that with Irish players so they bought 2 world cup winners. We are arguing about bringing in 1 world class overseas player. Its double standards u...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

Third choice scrum-half was always the most likely position that would come and bite us in the ass – I have to say that I think it was a very difficult issue to remedy in practical terms for Guy/Leo/Stuart once McCarthy announced he was going to Munster. Thankfully we have addressed that for next s...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

Not saying we can't be better or much of what you are saying hasn't merit but it is very hard to compete when you have these huge lumps coming at you...had to say we ain't seeing a consistent problem here....Sarries, LAR etc etc...same problems. My view is we accept it and do our best but accept th...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

A lot has been said of the huge lumps that others have that we don't, but we didn't lose because of the power of Skelton et al, we lost because we allowed them apply it. They were able to spend the entire game in their comfort zone, trundling up and down their lanes without ever being stressed. Skel...

Connacht v Leinster Rainbow Cup Sat 8/5 19.35

The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say So, the Rainbow Cup. As this seemingly never en...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

In 2021 we're won 9 lost 4, and we lost our share by not playing smart enough. We put out a strong team but there really wasn't a body of form for a lot of guys and the Munster match wasn't good preparation. It looked like the squad was getting over the injury hump after Exeter but it wasn't really...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

This is key, key, key. What other leading side is sourcing almost all their players from home? 2 out of 23 is too few. We need ballast in the pack and Harry/Frawley need to come through for Ross. Every side in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Argentina - in fact every side in every country exc...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

The turning point for me was replacing Ruddock with Baird. Baird has many great attributes and will be (and indeed is) a serious player for us. He's not a breakdown guy however - we should have brought Fardy on. Its easy to be wise after the event, after all we were going well at the time, but we co...

Re: Heineken Cup 2020/21

Bordeaux haven't managed this well at all. On this showing, would have no fear of Toulouse. I dunno, their ability to play anti-rugby is pretty impressive - shows they have that arrow in their quiver Their ability to play rugby on the other hand hasn't been impressive. Did the dupont try come as yo...

Re: European Cup Semi-Final: Away to La Rochelle, Sunday 2nd of May 3pm

Another area I think we'll look to target is their lineout, particularly getting JR up early. Skelton is obviously not a great lineout option, Sazy is their key man but wouldn't have the spring, and none of their back three would be recognised jumpers imo. In Rhys, Dev and Ryan with the other two c...
