Re: Steve Thompson not very well at all

The IRFU are now under attack for doing the correct thing as opposed to the PC thing to do regarding the transgender issue. Health and Safety is the issue, not equality. The fact that no-one on this board has chosen to express an opinion is a sure sign that people have been cowed into silence. Inte...

Isn't there regional talent centers planned and/or opened?

Re: Rugby Championship 2022

Interestingly, Ian Foster said something that I've been thinking for a while. Have the All Blacks suffered from not playing Saffer teams week in week out in Super Rugby? Conversely this will benefit Ireland over time too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXtodd7VGzo&t=316s That was one of the bi...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022

South African team for tomorrow's game against NZ has a very familiar look. It should certainly give us a good benchmark as to what level NZ are in World terms: https://www.espn.co.uk/rugby/lineups?gameId=595482&league=244293 Certainly looks to me as if Joe pointed the finger at the front five....

Re: Grahamunster - Graham Rowntree's Munster 2022/2023

The most interesting addition for me is definitely Prendergast. I just mentioned Mike Catt on another thread and Prendergast's philosophy is similar to the way ireland attack. Larkham was known to have a complex attacking system but I think Prendergast will go the Ireland route of plenty of attackin...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022

It's a very good coaching team. Mike Catt doesn't get enough mentions in my opinion. The general consensus is Ireland are copying Leinster but if that was the case it wouldn't have taken as long for the attack to click.

Re: Tour to NZ 2022

What I liked best about the tour was when NZ closed the gap and things seemed inevitable Ireland did not fold. This Ireland side have done serious work on the mental skills side of things. Gary Keegan is doing a very good job there. Farrell is naturally good at that stuff too and knows how to motiv...

Re: Ireland U20's 2022

I just saw that Chay Mullins is still listed as being with Bristol for next season so I presume he won’t be joining an Irish province as had been rumoured, are we losing him? I checked Bristol Bears site and there's no sign of him. Interesting, thanks. I’d seen him listed on that Irish abroad Twitt...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022

Lots of headlines about a Steve Hanson interview of NZ TV overnight. Haven't been able to access the actual broadcast but here's coverage of the headlines: https://www.the42.ie/steve-hansen-new-zealand-board-5827768-Jul2022/ https://youtu.be/_muEuxEjqfk He makes a good point about the NZ u20s. They...

Re: Grahamunster - Graham Rowntree's Munster 2022/2023

Great to hear that RG has started his pre season. Although he has been with Munster for a couple of seasons now, he will be like a new signing. With himself, Kleyn, Wycherley Ahern and Beirne, Munster have some really good options in the second row, and will be in a position to mix things up when r...

Re: RWC 2023: Ireland

Looking ahead to the autumn, and with an eye on refining your potential RWC squad, pick your 23 to face Australia on the basis that we really want to win, but nobody who started a test vs the ABs can be selected, nor can Kelleher/Henderson/Conan. Playstyle and player demands stay the same as today ...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022

Interesting to see ireland had 42% possession in the 3rd test vs NZ. Just goes to show how good the attack is. I'd say ireland is tactically the best attacking side in the world now. The lack of speed on the wing is often spoken about but I don't see any other side playing with the pace of ireland. ...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022

I’m delighted for Tadhg Beirne and Peter O’Mahony but the over the best players in tour were Sexton and VDF. It seems to have dropped out of the conversation that there was 11 starters from Leinster in the team that beat NZ Probably for the better not to emphasise provincial rivalry. Anyway the sit...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022

I'm posting partially because I find it extraordinary that our success against NZ, less than a week ago, has slipped so far down the 'Active' list so quickly, but also because, with at least 10 internationals between now and the announcement of the RWC23 Squad, I find it almost inconceivable that F...

Re: Summer Tours 2022

Seems to be getting worse and worse. Forcing all the players to move/live in BC at the training centre there hasn't been well received I gather. Remember the 2015 world cup they played some really great rugby but they were very critical and blaming Kieran Crowley for the results. That was bizarre. ...

Re: Tour to NZ 2022

It's fair to say the win will turbocharge the players belief in the team. The Irish jersey never had the aura of the ABs or Springboks or even Wallabies but that win will have changed things in that regard. Even the Welsh players play above themselves when they put on the wales jersey and have won m...
